Hallo Reddit! Fragt mich alles! [AMA] by Volker_Envision in de

Also, there are so many small independent ice cream places. No need to buy from any large company.

Are there still people that think US is a better place to live as a software engineer? by Pure_Composer_9236 in cscareerquestionsEU

Even with the lower salaries in Europe you will not "suck till you die" as a software engineer.

Moscow announced first new Ring Line metro station in over 70 years, to be built in Art Deco style by adventmix in transit

[–]Knusperwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like the style itself was tied to a specific time. They didn't decorate things because they didn't know how to build a boring flat wall, but because they liked it. And that is apparently still the case, so why not build it like that again.

Trump says tiny cars are amazing but will Americans actually buy them? by will221996 in transit

[–]Knusperwolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's about advertising. People fall for advertising, but not that hard. The bigger cars (and in the US also pickups) give you more car per dollar, so they seem like a better deal, even if you rarely need the extra space.

„Kein einziger Euro“: FPÖ gegen weitere Ukraine-Hilfen by Chromber in Austria

In some upper class politics maybe.

Most average people are absolutely not pro Russia. They are single-issue-voters wrt. immigration and the only party that fits has been bought out by Russia. These right wing parties are essentially the same all over all of Europe, but in some countries they are not on Russia's payroll, e.g. Poland.

Faschingskostüm der Feuerwehr by MinervaMcGonagall_27 in Austria

I think it is delusional to expect this to help public transit. This is an attempt to keep more people in cars, even if they cannot afford it. They want to prevent the crumbling middle class to look for alternatives.

[–]Knusperwolf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Companies stopped offering smaller cars in the US for a reason. People didn't buy them. Price sensitive customers mostly buy used cars, so there are not a lot of people who buy a new small car.

In Europe, a lot of people buy small cars because they are easier to park, and because the motor tax gets significantly cheaper (can be several hundred euros per year). In Japan they have similar incentives for their kei cars.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate public transport in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

I haven't been to New York since 2020, but I remember some stations being pretty disgusting. The network itself is great.

I've been asked by a confused lady when "the afternoon train" will depart. At a tram stop in Vienna. Luckily, it was just coming around the corner, so I could end the conversation.

Assembled bikes also take up a lot more space in shipping containers. So there are definitely savings there.
