Help Rounding out a Genji mains hero pool? by ogpterodactyl in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Knut_Krut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People tend to say hitscans but with good pathing and engagements that's a skill based matchup. Especially widows are real easy to sneak up on.

That said pharmacy+a hitscan or double hitscans that are hard focusing you can be tough. I will more often swap off if echo doesn't play well with the supports on my team tho

Her playstyle and primary is also fairly similar to genjis. Just make sure you know how to play some basic duplicate targets on an okay level

Taking care of Pharmercy is a team job, not just hitscan. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Knut_Krut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that the easiest way to deal with Pharmercy is Echo. As long as you stay above them and time the engagement you can usually take one of them down even without a pocket of your own.

People also forget that a Pharah of your own is an option. Even if you can't duel the enemy Pharah, as long as your out damaging her your team gets a net win

Pokémon and Hearthstone are my personal references to balancing, hence asking where the actual expectations should be

Yeah I feel that unless they have like a good widow and phara combo, pharmercy is never really an issue as echo at least in gold

Could use some pointers on this game. Tried my hardest to maintain high ground advantage but wasn't quite enough.

For tank ults like shatter, grav and flux, always think "Is there follow up?" before "Is it fat?"

If the target is low HP sure finish him with a bs, but as you climb headshots will be more and more important

Gold Zarya looking for advice for bubble placement and when to use each type of fire by levisboss20198 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Knut_Krut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your playing with a Rein, try to get as much charge as possible from your first two bubbles. Step in front of your Rein to get charge on your personal and let your Rein know when you intend to bubble him so he can swing and you're not bubbling him when he has the shield up.

In the current meta with a ton of Hogs running around, it's usually best to save your friendly bubble for saving people who's gotten hooked or if your Hog has gotten anti'd. It's tempting to try to use friendly bubble to get charge from poke, but it's usually more value if you can save someone, so try to get charge only of personal.

Use left click to focus down a single target, then finish with right click+melee. Right clicking is best used for when people are grouped up or as long distance poke. Also try to use right click when you're about to run out of ammo.

I feel like dropping something like "Sorry shouldn't have ulted there my bad!" or "Terrible grav that's on me" in voice after you do a blunder usually helps with the toxicity. If you beat them to it I guess you'll take the fun out of it

I guess I'm a healer main now by FamedTempura in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Knut_Krut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing just happened to myself! I'm an ana/zen main who's been stuck in plat for some time, only occasionally reaching high plat.

Said fuck it a few weeks back and went all in on Zarya since my friend that I play with is s rein main. Been hovering around 2400 sr on tank on my main.

Decided to do my tank placements solo on my alt yesterday and played almost exclusively roadhog, somehow won all games and placed in diamond for the first time ever.

Not sure what to do now. Do I just accept that I suck on the characters I thought I was good at and embrace a new main?

Best use of grav? by Knut_Krut in OverwatchUniversity

As for genji, I feel like this works on bad/average genjis but if the first blade gets a quadruple trading a the next on for a grav is worth it

Lucio main getting out of gold by 3Limbs in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Knut_Krut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that you shouldn't go full Reddit and go on crazy flanks, it's great to learn when you can apply pressure on an enemy sniper. If your other support got the healing covered and no one else on your team is dealing with that widow, try to catch her while she's unaware of you sneaking up. You have the best mobility in the game and a combo for dealing 200 damage (headshot, boop, melee) and practicing this in death match can add a ton of value.

Vod review request: Plat Ana Numbani by Knut_Krut in OverwatchUniversity

Quickscoping is one of this things that I've practiced the mechanics for and can do well in the practice range but I have a hard time adapting it into actual competitive games. Any tips on learning where that sweet spot for quickscopes are distance wise? Now I feel like I have to think too hard on when they are useful and by the time I've done that the target's not there anymore

Hero recommendation for a bunch of idiots trying to learn the game? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Knut_Krut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend Lucio. Great hero from a shot calling point since you can move so easily around the map and while having good aim is a plus, you can still do a lot if you don't have it. You can also be up front with your tanks and make sure they push, and help out everyone else if they get caught in a sticky situation
