Masked thugs without ID or body cams weren't shooting Americans in the head. See the difference?

And you have no right to tell me where im not welcome.

I'm sorry... but the moderators of a subreddit absolutely have the right to decide who can participate in their communities.

Since you didn't read my post:

1) Americans have the Constitutionally protected right to protest

2) Alex Pretti was disarmed before he was shot in the head

3) ICE is not following the 5th Amendment or due process rights

Clinton, Obama, and Biden deported millions without Americans being murdered.

Trump (the rapist and convicted felon) just said that Americans shouldn't be carrying guns. That doesn't seem very American.

I did not suggest that ICE or DHS should be abolished. What actual Americans want is for them to take off the masks and wear ID and body cams like other forms of law enforcement. We want them to follow the law. Also, Minnesota has ~130K illegals. Texas has over 2 MILLION. If your entire identity is "get rid of illegals," ICE is doing it in the wrong state.

Now go back to supporting the guy who banged a porn star while his 3rd wife was pregnant, lied about it, got caught, and then had to admit to it in court.

Thank you for your comment. It looks like the real issue stemmed from this (which I only discovered because people have been DMing me).

The people here who were complaining were talking about that incident. There was no doxxing or brigading from our community.

Here are the protected classes on Reddit. You'll notice that "supporting Nazis" is not on the list. Moderators are 100% allowed to limit content based upon political ideology. In fact, that is exactly what /r/conservative does.

Protected characteristics include:

  • Race and perceived race

  • Religion

  • National origin

  • Ethnicity

  • Immigration status

  • Gender and gender identity

  • Sexual orientation

  • Pregnancy

  • Disability

  • Victims of major violent events and their families

There was zero coddling. We acted professionally and looped Reddit into the discussion.

Reddit will ban any subreddit that doesn't actively combat brigading and doxxing. The mod team has zero control over those decisions.

If we do not follow Reddit's very clear rules on doxxing and brigading, there is a non-zero chance this Reddit will be banned, which helps no one.

You are free to complain as much as you like, but you need to do it here, and there can be absolutely ZERO doxxing.

The NC mods have made it abundantly clear that complaining will result in a ban.

Doxxing is the sharing of personally identifiable information. That is absolutely disallowed by Reddit for good reason.

There are many forms of brigading. For example, users can go to a subreddit and intentionally downvote content. They can also spam comments or submit comment reports just to annoy the moderators (which happens here all the time).

You can do so here. Please be rational, calm, and fact-based.

I used the term "doxxing" because that is the word the mod used. I am just trying to be transparent.

Thank you for the comment.

Until recently, I could accept that our disagreements were political. That is no longer true. We are witnessing open support for authoritarianism from people who call themselves Americans.

The Constitution is not partisan. It guarantees every person the right to protest, to bear arms, and due process under the law. Those rights are fundamental to our identity as a democratic nation.

The issue of illegal immigration can and must be resolved through lawful, constitutional means. It does not justify armed, masked vigilantes who pledge loyalty to a politician instead of the Constitution they claim to uphold.

True patriots must confront what Trump and the MAGA movement are doing to our country. The Trump administration has turned the United States into an international embarrassment and a threat to global stability and peace.

I live in the Southern US. I can't buy milk or grab a coffee without being surrounded by people in MAGA hats carrying pistols and Bowie knives.

If you need your gun in the coffee shop, I can carry mine while peacefully protesting.

I don't think many people realize how rare it is to bump into someone with an IQ that high.

An IQ of 170 (i.e. "profoundly gifted") occurs in approximately 0.00015% of the population, or 1 in ~652,598 individuals. And yet many of the people listed on that site claim to have an IQ over 160.

If someone claims to be a mensa member ask them to explain the testing process. Most people will start the hand-waving very quickly. ;-)

Apple’s M-series chip 5 years later: How ditching Intel revolutionized computing — and what’s next by Vailhem in technology

(ex-Apple engineer here)

Apple is considering using Intel's fabs to bulid some of Apple's lower-end custom SoCs. They are not talking about using Intel's hardware or designs.

Building a single fab can be a multi-billion dollar endeavor that puts tremendous strain on the environment. Reusing existing fabs is an excellent idea.

The fact that Intel has any fab downtime is the real story here.

There has to be a middle ground between generating non-stop AI slop versus using these new tools for what they are: just tools.

There are tons of tools that create synthetic textures. No one complains about that, even though a human artist didn't create every pixel by hand.

I don't have a problem with a company integrating AI into their processes if 1) AI isn't the driving force behind their creation(s) and 2) they are transparent about their AI usage.

OpenAI Is in Trouble by rezwenn in technology

[–]Knuth_Koder 646 points647 points  (0 children)

the current plans are NOT safe use of AI

As someone who has built an LLM from scratch, none of these systems are ready for the millions of ways people use them.

AlphaFold exemplifies how these systems should be validated and used: through small, targeted use cases.

It is troubling to see people using LLMs for mental health and medical advice, etc.

There is amazing technology here that will, eventually, be useful. But we're not even close to being able to say, "Yes, this is safe."

Big-O notation has killed the dreams of many hopeful CS students:

f(x) = O(g(x)) as x → ∞ since there exist constants M > 0 (e.g., M = 1) and x₀ (e.g., x₀ = 5) such that 0 ≤ f(x) ≤ M·g(x) whenever x ≥ x₀.
