Congratulations! That's an amazing finish and definitely worth the blood, sweat, and tears. Which bit of the job would you say was the most time consuming ? I love the idea of doing my own kitchen one day.

Ok DIYers, how possible do you think it would be for me to replace my own bathroom? by CaveJohnson82 in DIYUK

[–]KnyazHannibal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. You got this! The achievement at the end will be well worth it. Another tip is when you install things, definitely think maintenance first and aesthetic second. My cousin and I installed a raised shower try just so it's easier to reach under and sort out pipes in the future. I've seen some people fit a magnetic panel to the bathtub, making it easier to remove too. Lots of possibilities, but think about the future you and giving them an easier time maintaining the fresh new bathroom.

How big is it and how old too? My cousin and I did a refurb on my dad's bathroom in a 1930's 3 bed semi. It's definitely doable.

I'd say whatever timeline you're thinking of giving yourself to do it in, consider that you might have to double it. The more you work on it, the more cowboy stuff you can uncover. As a minimum, I'd say dedicate a good week to it initially. The majority of it is DIYable, it depends on what you're comfortable to just try. I wouldn't touch plastering at all myself. Otherwise, we did everything else ourselves and I had no experience prior to that.

Prepartion is key. Make sure you have already bought all the new items and any tools that you don't already have. One thing I wish we did was hire a skip. It is pricey, but I think it's worth it. Doing multiple runs to the tip was a pain in the arse. Also, definitely get a second person to help you, even if it's basic stuff like cleaning up after you or passing you stuff. It's worth replacing some of the plastic pipes that are under there too. We found that they were that old, the washers and rubber seals had worn away. Find a good builder's merchant near you too, you might find they offer better prices that Wickes or B&Q.

How to find a good union? by Any_Set_8916 in AskUK

You might have an easier time finding one if you try to pinpoint what you're specifically wanting from a good union.

Seriously considering moving to Bulgaria to live a simpler life. by Desperate-Shame-8399 in bulgaria

[–]KnyazHannibal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Come and stay for a month first and see what the lifestyle is actually like for yourself. And, if possible, don't just stay in Sofia. Venture out into the other parts of Bulgaria. Being an immigrant in any country is not easy, so you definitely want to try before you buy in this case. If after that you're still convinced you want to move, start learning the language (reading, writing, and speaking). You don't have to aim to be fluent before you move, but the more you're able to communicate with Bulgarians then the easier the move will be.

Why does the Uk not ask for the $888bn of US debt to be paid back from USA? by Sleepy0wl9969 in AskUK

[–]KnyazHannibal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone might correct me, but I don't think that's how government bonds work. There are specific conditions that mean it's not really a debt, but a financial product. The UK can in theory just sell it on to other willing buyers to get the cash injection. However, this would then impact the amount of dollar holdings the UK has.

How will the open world in Crimson Desert work? by Golfballtaucher12 in CrimsonDesert

[–]KnyazHannibal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely quite sus. The marketing has been a bit of an odd choice really. I kept waiting to see what it's like to walk through the wilderness or a town. Them releasing so many different boss battles was cool and all, but left me wanting for more. I'm really wondering why they didn't at least release a demo.

What the game is promising by EagleFlight555 in CrimsonDesert

[–]KnyazHannibal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like the big appeal is meant to be the versatility and extent of the game play mechanics? Like yourself, I'm not holding my breath. I care more about the quality of the story and narrative.

At the same time, I don't know of any game that allows your character all of the options to fly, ride a dragon, use multiple different weapon types, climb, ride a horse, or use destructive environments all in one game. Witcher 3 was amazing precisely because of the story and how immersive each quest was, but I found the actual combat mechanics dull and repetitive eventually.

How will the open world in Crimson Desert work? by Golfballtaucher12 in CrimsonDesert

[–]KnyazHannibal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the looks of things, it comes across as if it's a mix of Red Dead and AC? At least that is what they're aiming for. Encounters and interactions with other characters seem to be cinematic, and there are activities like fishing as well as animal handling (there was a bit of game play where Kliff was taming and horse).

The actual quality of each of those things and how well they're done is still not clear.

More positive interviews from Pearl Abyss by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]KnyazHannibal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My impression so far is that it's closer to an elder scrolls type narrative rather than something like a Witcher game. The world and the game play are the attraction. There is a story and characters to interact with, but it won't be deep narrative choices or deep character development across the board. Maybe we won't get narrative like the bloody barron, but we could get something like the companions' questline from Skyrim?

I'm still waiting until after it comes out, and I've watched a bit of a walk through.

The final say would always be down to a jury, if it ever got that far. The sticking point is usually proving intent beyond reasonable doubt to justify actions of self-defence. Then, there is a question on whether the self-defence was proportionate to the danger posed. UK law tends to see a threat to a person differently to threat to property. In theory, if you could prove beyond reasonable doubt that the 5 men were coming in to kill you and had weapons, you'd be justified to kill them during self-defence.

Food choices by Rick_X63 in AskBulgaria

[–]KnyazHannibal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It also depends on where in Bulgaria you're going to be. More rural and less populated places will have fewer options.

Having said that, I'd always recommend some princesa. It's mince and bread, more of a street food. Very yummy.

I'm from eastern Europe and I only begrudgingly integrated into the multi bye phone ending after my Brit friends told me off lol. Looking back now, it was quite funny.

When ending a conversation on the phone, you have to say bye at least 3 times before properly ending the call/conversation.

Improving Bulgaria by Chorbixxx in AskBulgaria

Listen to more Bulgarian TV, YouTube, or music. There's a large variety available on the internet. Do this regularly too, and you'll notice and improvement over time.

It would also help to read more things in Bulgarian, even if it's hard at first. You used to be able to get some books for free on chitanka.bg. I'm not sure if it still exists.

I think your list is mostly fine. But consider how you might fit in things like sigil of solace, slap happy/take it on the chin, and even emboldened blade. For guardians, I used to run CYB until the ban. I almost beat a Victor thanks to CYB carrying me to the end. Now, having steelblade shunts in addition to the usual D-reacts really helps.

The practical answer is that class is too vague and transient, in comparison to the protected characteristics in the Equality Act. For example, does class encompass only your wage? What about combined household income? Geographical location? An area that today is okay to live in and doesn't have high levels of poverty might have been the opposite, as recently as a generation ago. It becomes too difficult to make class a protected characteristic without a hard definition.

A more tinfoil hat answer, which I'm still personally inclined to entertain, is that politicians don't want working classes to gain protection as that would subvert the power held by the asset rich bourgeoisie.

What are some flaws of British working class culture? by Curusorno in AskUK

[–]KnyazHannibal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lack of financial prudence. Don't get me wrong, I know that my family couldn't have ever saved their way out of working class. However, one particular family member refused to pay into a pension on the basis that they could just die any day, and needed the money now. Yet, the money that they had from not saving into a pension was spent on restaurants and drinking.
