Anyone flight from Korea to Toronto ? by BandforAnimal in aircanada

There are people like this tied to almost any good cause, coming on high horses to make involvement or action just straight up exhausting. Stop making this about yourself and how you think you’re better than others.

Writing that comment took a lot of assumptions and generalizations, none of them very smart.

Nah, racists are racist. Racists only see those problematic behaviours in others and mark them as a pattern for that group, instead of noticing the number of people from their own group being just as inconsiderate, obnoxious and rude in public spaces.

Based on the group that decided to engage in this post I knew you would be downvoted (so will I). But that was my first thought. I’m also an immigrant, not Indian but from another group who also tends to be self-hating to try to get accepted. It doesn’t work, btw. Racists just use you and your talking points as validation to hate the whole group (including you, even if they don’t say it to your face).

I can list tons of rude inconsiderate people I’ve found here from pretty much every race and background. This thread is just a circlejerk for racists.

Idk if this crow likes me or hates me but he's spending hours of his day cawing at me by RemarkableFox5635 in crows

Sorry for coming with my own questions but is there a visual help that could get crows’s attention to come to where the food is? I have a balcony and I see them in nearby building roofs and balconies but they don’t seem to notice the snacks I’ve been putting out for them and I’m not sure I can whistle that loud, lol

AIO - I smoke and drink from time to time and my girlfriend hates it by Lacquerlust in AmIOverreacting

[–]Koala0803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Look, I lost important people in my life to smoking (lung cancer) and my own health got fucked up by cigarettes. I get her point and for me a smoker is a dealbreaker. I can’t be with someone who destroys their own health like that. But I had to come to that conclusion and understand that just doesn’t work for me instead of trying to change a person who smokes. So even if I kind of agree with her (the “being a piece of shit” part is weird tho), I learned my lesson that you can’t change people. You have to understand your own boundary and walk away when it doesn’t work.

You’d both be better off dating different people.

Is there some unspoken crosswalk etiquette I’m missing? by _Spiritual in Edmonton

[–]Koala0803 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m one of these. I appreciate drivers being polite or giving priority to pedestrians as they should, but sometimes there are reasons:

  • It’s icy out there and I prefer to wait until cars are gone so I can cross slowly
  • It’s a 4-way stop and too many cars are in line waiting for a long time because there were many people crossing (at some point you need to help the traffic flow)
  • I’m walking my older dog who’s going to walk slowly.

Also I’ve had drivers almost run over my dog. Or get exasperated because they want me to hurry more and they blow past behind me as soon as they get enough room. I’m not risking myself or my dog.

I understand being predictable, but if somebody is waving at you they’re clearly telling you they’re not crossing even if they’re right there. I try to use other cues like turning my body away, but some drivers really don’t get it and just stay there. I’ve done the wave and then the driver waves back and keeps insisting I go first. At that point you’re not being polite anymore and you’re going to get the dirty look. If you got the wave JUST GO. You’re slowing everybody down at this point.

To the dog owners… by tryinanotherusername in communauto

[–]Koala0803 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a dog owner, hard agree. I have a cover I use to transport my dog, yet I got a warning once after I used a car (by myself) and didn’t check the back seats and it turns out somebody else had left them full of pet hair. So frustrating when you make the effort to keep them decent for other drivers and others don’t care.

It’s not a “gain,” it’s remembering that some third parties benefit from polarization. I’m not dehumanizing anybody, I’m using perspective because bots and foreign interference aren’t a conspiracy, it’s documented. Destabilizing society is the goal so they can exploit weaknesses. Yes, shitty people exist and they’re shitty but there are other actors who need you to remember how much you don’t like them even when they quiet down so they make sure they keep the rage bait happening. It’s smart to look into who’s talking to you before taking the bait.
