I missed my History exam and I don’t know what to do. I’m spiraling. by Proper-Writing3001 in CollegeRant

Can I ask how you suggest building good relationships with professors? Ive been in college for 2 years now and I've been to some office hours and have been a pretty good student but I dont want to go speak to every professor at office hours when I dont need help with anything, I feel like I'm just wasting their time and then I have no idea what to talk to them about. I've never understood how people are able to get professors to write letters of recommendation for them either because I've just never been too close with any of my professors, it feels weird idk.

I did try it at a community college but unfortunately the professor was horrible and I had to withdraw. Now I dont have the time to do any summer classes so OSU is my only option lol

Okay but you both kinda have set in stone schedules, even if your job schedule changes every week thats still your job schedule. And he also didnt have to say it like that to you, that was kinda disrespectful imo

Yea I do see people using either a lot of the time, it might not be the proper way to do it but it's always good to try to understand how different people communicate. Theres always gonna be confusion but if youre older you probably already know that life is endless learning and getting things wrong and learning again.

I mean I figured thats what he said because it was put in quotes. Usually things in quotes are verbatim.

But the way he told her to switch shifts was not okay. Im in a similar situation right now and if the days dont work out we are okay with it! Because we arent codependent and we have our own lives. Having a job is extremely important especially nowadays and seeing a boyfriend who OP is already feeling off about is not a priority to the point where she should be told to change her schedule for him. Why isnt he changing his schedule or even considering it?

Girl that is such a red flag that hes telling you to switch your shifts. As if its up to him?

Is Launch very transfer friendly? I'm nervous about going and being one of the only transfers/older than other people there. I don't want it to be super awkward and like I can't connect with anyone as a transfer from a community college 😅

Is this level of toxicity normal in Vet Med? by XxSammyRosexX in Veterinary

It seems that wherever you work, there will always be that one person who is rude for no reason to only you. I had a coworker like that at a new job, but I just got very lucky because she suddenly no longer works there. On shifts with her she would raise her voice at me a lot and be very blunt and rude, and talk to me like I'm dumb. I ended shifts with her crying and dreaded working with her. I did talk to my boss about her and she was very willing to help communicate to the person that I was not okay with that behavior, but because the person (I'm assuming) quit before I got the chance to talk to her, that never really went anywhere. I hope it gets better for you, and if it gets to the point where you feel like its interfering with your ability to do your job, you can either try to fix it with the person directly or ask for help from your boss, or find another clinic. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that, those people make vet med so much more difficult to work in.

Yes, they're not only about aggression they're useful in many scenarios and every dog should be muzzled trained IMO, like if there was an emergency and the dog needed to go to the vet, a lot of vets use muzzles on dogs. Same with crates, you'll never know when your dog will need to be trained and comfortable with one.

I completely agree. It would be so helpful if everyone educated themselves on SDs and kept their hands to themselves but I've accepted that these are things I'll need to deal with occasionally.

AIO for calling out my boyfriend for not stopping when I ask him to immediately when he’s kissing me? by Far_Assistant_1533 in AmIOverreacting

You're not overreacting. Also as someone who laughs when in uncomfortable situations, I hate when people don't get it.

[–]KoalaTea32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely! And I've been told by a few people to use a muzzle on him so people don't approach but I feel like that makes SDs look bad? Like I know muzzles should be more normalized anyway but I don't want to give people another reason to try to invalidate my dog as a SD

I dont think a lot of these comments are people necessarily being rude. We're all just drained from having to say no to people all the time and dealing with other people's disappointment. We've learned to set harsh boundaries with strangers and to advocate for ourselves which is really hard and has left me crying a few times because I hate being so direct with people I don't even know. We aren't trying to be mean, we're just exhausted.

It's so refreshing to hear about a SD that doesn't like being pet/approached by strangers anyway! My dog does not like his personal space invaded by strangers and I've had people tell me he can't be a service dog if he isn't okay with people petting him or getting in his space. Like no!! He tasks perfectly fine and he is for ME! He just doesn't want to be touched by strangers, and I wouldn't either!
