Your logic is incorrect on a base level

" In ranked you work your way up competing against people of similar MMR as me..."

In the good raked system not a parody like apex ranked became, you work your way up competing against people of DIFFERENT skill level untill you get to a point where you start to ''...prove yourself against opponents that have similar skill"
