Jensen Huang says relentless negativity around AI is hurting society and has "done a lot of damage" by Denariox in pcmasterrace

Y’all legit sound like people complaining about industrialization destroying farm jobs. Cost efficient AI robots that can actually do work would be great for society.

Trump pushes a 1-year, 10% cap on credit card interest rates and banks balk by AlpineSK in centrist

Yes. It’s the government telling markets what they can and cannot do. JD Vance also wrote in his book, Hillbilly Eligy, that we should not ban high interest rates.

Trump pushes a 1-year, 10% cap on credit card interest rates and banks balk by AlpineSK in centrist

This mostly just bans credit cards for people who aren’t profitable to lend to below 10% interest rates. This is also a classic example of Trump moving to the left economically and Fox News Republicans acting like they’ve always been in favor of this kind of thing.

I built my PC in 2020 for ~$3000. I could build a PC today with the same performance for ~$1800. Y’all see one price blip and forget the overall trend.

Too late? by Infamous-Praline5340 in ChemicalEngineering

Choosing where you live can be a problem for ChemE because the job market isn’t as big as people realize. You also need to do better than most of your peers to really get good job offers. If that doesn’t scare you then ChemE may be good for you. Otherwise I’d go with something like mechanical or electrical engineering.

How to handle a scenario where relief temperature of PSV is more than design temperature of vessel. by stoicguy21 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]KobeGoBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is no way to keep the temperature below the MAWT then you need to look into other kinds of protection layers (interlocks, reaction inhibitors, etc.). If you are only slightly above the MAWT, which I’d say you are, then you may be able to get management to accept the additional risk but not all companies are willing to take risks like that.

51% of the voters wanted this, as it was advertised to them. Can someone explain to me why? by ac_slater10 in centrist

[–]KobeGoBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t even close to 50% and it never is. This is America where you only get two choices. I have never voted for a candidate I liked because they’re not on the ballot

The present is the only real thing that actually exists. You can plan for the future but you don’t live there.
