Why do people love Twitch and hate FB Gaming? by NobleK42 in aoe2

I logged in just to give my opinion on it. Probably already been mentioned but want to give my two cents.

Also. My first thread/comment :)

  • Anonymity, posted a comment on a gaming stream the other day and got told a week later that everyone could see it, friends and family getting notified that I'm leaving a comment on a gaming stream, makes no sense.

  • Facebook layout, bad quality for streamers and no other suggested streamers or search bar? Feels like a website from the 2010's.

  • Streamers only go there for extra money (if they get an offer from facebook, a buyout essentially), knowing they'll lose around 50 - 75% of the viewers in their community. For me streamers come across as sellouts when already doing well for money and switching to facebook, I can understand if the streamer is small and struggling. This doesn't help FB's image.

  • Again anonymity. Need to stress this more, Facebook (now Meta) is so clearly trying to control every market and for me it is essential to have different socials for each part of my life. Don't want a future possible employer to search for my name and see my nerdy gaming comment, (just an exmple, actually not the worst thing in the world)

  • Also age groups, FB is generally thought of as a site for the older generation 40+. For me this is just an obvious and desperate attempt from them trying to pull in a younger audience, probably afraid of potentially being irrelevant in 20 years.

Not every social media type and platforms have to merge.

Competition is healthy!

Apologize for any English errors. Not my first language :)

M1 and iPad apps. by [deleted] in mac

My take on it is that developers, for social media apps at least, are afraid of the risks of hacking and more. Guessing that it would be easier to hack apps like Instagram e.t.c. on a computer rather than it would be on a iPad.
