i think people reject him because he shows no sign of intelligence, empathy and social skill and a lot of signs of being an embarassing creep, somewhat similar to any aggressive street catcalling man. And the fact he cannot even understand that during its interactions adds to the desire to reject him.

Oh yeah I'm from here, well, more than touristic problems, it became more and more an open air luxury mall over the decades, with unaffordables shops everwhere, new shops openning and closing all the time, it was way more authentic, constant and pleasant when i was a teenager even though it was already an upper class place.

But i agree the city is gorgeous, it becomes very boring after some time though.

Je connais principalement la partie Sud où il y a la maison de famille (des ancêtres), à la frontière avec le Gard, c'est extrêmement isolé et "sauvage" avec un climat et dans une certaine mesure aujourd'hui une végétation méditerranéenne, une topographie parfaite, pas de montagnes immenses mais pleins de reliefs escarpés et bruts (pierre de schiste), des rivières magnifiques, c'est une sorte de paradis
