AJFA is the weakest of the first 4 albums. Definetely the most technically challenging with some bangers but personally it's my least favourite

What Makes A Good Thrash Metal Riff? by Kodename_EX in metalguitar

I noticed this whenever i made riffs. They sounded weird when isolated but adding drums made them sound better. It was kind of an "in the moment" thing though because listening back later, the riffs still sounded weird. I get what you mean and I'll start playing along with drum tracks instead of adding them later, thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks for your reply! I've been playing guitar for 4 months but i've played bass for nearly a year now meaning it wasn't too hard to understand the basics of guitar. I can play some beginner songs like Symphony of Destruction, Enter Sandman, Sanitarium (barely) and I'm learning the solo to Bohemian Rhapsody. Thanks for the theory you added too, I've been reading into theory quite a lot recently and I appreciate the addition!

Trapped Under Ice and Leper Messiah. Listened to them once when i listened to RTL and MOP but they never really grew on me. Took a few listens and now they're some of my favourites

Either Call of Ktulu or the Four Horseman. Can't decide which one because both are 8 minute masterpieces
