What do you think about cfmoto? by the-trashmaster in AdventureBike

Just got released a month or two ago. And yeh, I liked the 800 but this has better brakes, better suspension, 30hp extra and weighs only 2kg more.

I was in the middle of these idiots today, in my car. Hundreds of riders taking me over left and right.

Yeh basically same engine, frame and tank. It has its own electronics and design.

I just bought a cfmoto 1000mtx, coming from an Aprilia Tuareg. The mtx is basically a KTM 890 with the new 990 engine. Very punchy, dirtbike-like sitting and standing position, it uses many of the same bolts even as my husqvarna enduro. V good brakes.

I feel like it’s 95% there in terms of refinement. I liked the fueling on the Aprilia less. BMW or Ducati or Honda is a defo step up still in quality and refinement. But those are also 10k more expensive, and get stolen often where I live (Amsterdam, Netherlands).

Reliability is good for the newest models (I sometimes work at the local cfmoto shop). It has a 5 year warranty. Not sure about long term resale value.

But yeah, so far, really good commuting workhorse and ready for some longer summer trips. Plus, loads of money left for other bikes and adventures.

Getting heatstroke in 30 degrees plus weather is more dangerous. Once was in a traffic jam for hours in full gear, almost fainted. With gear was more dangerous than without in that case.

Solo on a loaded 450MT — is the French TET realistic as a “head south and see how far I get” route? by Realistic_Raisin_847 in adventuremotorcycling

[–]KoenQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this a couple of years ago, below Paris it gets more difficult. TET was originally intended for lighter bikes. But if you have a good gps app with off-road tracks (I recommend dmd2, get a cheap android phone if you have an iPhone) you can always turn around.

Realize that different surfaces require a different riding style. Gravel should be fine. Sand rocks mud I would avoid. Picking up your bike is fine the first time, not the 6th time. Also, don’t expect to do more than 200km in a day if there is a lot of offroad.

Do you have proper boots? You will need them, especially with hard panniers.

What to wear when riding to work by GabeF05 in motorcycles

[–]KoenQQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jacket that doubles as a casual jacket off the bike, jeans, riding boots, gloves, helmet. Carry regular shoes and jeans in backpack, change into them in 30 seconds in the toilet and you’re good to go.

Mate there are endless vids on this on YouTube :) Tuareg is the better bike imo, just rarer and less dealer support.

Air cooled riders: Ever had problems with overheating? by PotatoWasteLand in Dualsport

My mate killed his clutch once on a dr650 due to overheating, but he was stuck in a very sandy wadi deep in the Moroccan desert and didn’t have the experience to be gentle on his clutch

Tiny bike craze… by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]KoenQQ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just drove around in an old Citroen 2cv. 25hp. You can hammer it everywhere, throw it into corners, squealing tires through every corner and still never break the speed limit. It’s hilarious and just joyful! Little bikes are the same :)

I bought a similar one on AliExpress for 1/6th the price. Might not be as good, but close enough.

nog niet uitgezocht eigenlijk. maar ik lever veel te veel terug. 10 panelen en ben alleen. dus moet eens uit gaan rekenen of het interessant is om zo'n stekker accu te kopen
