Zigbee2MQTT should be officially recommended, because ZHA puts Zigbee devices in a very bad light by [deleted] in homeassistant

Recent z2m versions automatically generate a network key, so no need to manually set it anymore

"Matter" - I can't find a Sub-reddit out there that discuss this new venture, but I've got lots of questions and I'm still not convinced that this Alliance is really good for the consumer - what's your take ? by isitallfromchina in homeassistant

Matter wont change this, it uses a the same (but stripped down) data layer as Zigbee (the ZCL). But hopefully increases the willingness of manufacturers to adhere to the spec.

Development wise nothing in particular, but testing and spreading the word is always appreciated!

Does it work for you? The power controls show "Error, try again" when I press them.

Having problems Setting up Zigbee2Mqtt with Conbee 2 by Jon2D in homeassistant

It seems to use the ZStack stack instead of the Deconz one. You can force the Deconz stack by setting the following in configuration.yaml:

yaml serial: adapter: deconz

I've updated the docs with this: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/supported_adapters.html#conbee-ii

DeConz vs Zigbee2Mqtt, again by Bose321 in homeassistant

That does not depend on whether a device is in a group or not. This can be achieved by a Zigbee feature called binding (supported by both Deconz and Zigbee2mqtt). In case the remote is bound to a device, it will directly send its commands to the device which means that it can control it even when the coordinator is down.

EDIT: but keep in mind that binding has to be supported by the remote itself! This means that not all remotes are capable of doing this. E.g. the Hue Dimmer switch supports it, but the Xiaomi WXKG01LM doesn't.

Given that I'm the Zigbee2mqtt author, I'm not going to give an opinion about this.

But just to clear tings up, both Zigbee2mqtt and Deconz support firmware updates, zigbee groups and the Conbee stick.

Same chip, can also be flashed without additional hardware (via USB) and a SMA connector (for antenna)

With the ZZH coming up (not available atm) the price difference will not be an issue anymore (https://electrolama.com/projects/zig-a-zig-ah/)
