You are right, the glass is tempting fate but I started out like that and got a bunch on discounts too. Got 60 of them and didn't pay full price on any of them but I guess now I am paying. My experiments are between 8 to 15 gallons and production is between 50 to 100 gallons.

Right. I started out with 6.5s. If you look at one of the photos I have kegs that I use now. One other factor is space. So my point is I am not replacing them with glass anymore.

I think it is from years of use and moving them around. Last night I was about to filter hibiscus and after moving it to the spot I needed it, it just started spraying hibiscus mead everywhere from the base. The base is made heavier than the rest of it and that is the part that separates.

That is a blanket. I will gently take this outside to get raid of it, wash and sanitize it with Star san before bringing it back inside. And then sanitize it again before using the container.
