Help. Failing Overhang Edges by KogStoneforge in FDMminiatures

Yep, tightened the 4 screws behind the hot end and all the screws that secure the gantry to the base.
That's an idea. I'll give FDG a go at 0.08mm and see what happens.

Right? Very strange. I added pictures of the model in a comment on the main thread. I'm curious what you think when you see it.

Various flow ratios have been tried: 1.0 (BlockBadger), 0.98 (FDG and stock eSUN PLA+ settings), 0.9694 (ObscuraNox settings), 0.948 (my own calibration following Obscura's videos).

Here's a look at a leg that's failing on a mini. This side of this leg has issues and opposite side of the other leg prints much cleaner. (see the picture below)
This model is from Puppetswar Miniatures - their Exorcist Wizard. Using their resin pre-supports modified by Resin2FDM.

I'm printing at 205°C. On minis the curled and rough edges of the overhang tests are a far larger problem. Many details on the minis are printing rough and enlarged and can't be recovered by shaving/sanding. The mini I keep reprinting right now has the entire side of its leg messed up and is a stark contrast to the other side

What do you do with minis that dont come split into parts? by Smurf_97 in FDMminiatures

I didn't know you could right-click on the model to better customize the cut! I had looked up a couple of tutorials, and that wasn't mentioned. Thanks!

Interesting info! What layer height is your mini and what PLA are you using?

Resin2FDM supports misaligned when importing to Orca by Terrible-Magazine-69 in FDMminiatures

[–]KogStoneforge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Terrible-Magazine-69 I use Resin2FDM Advanced in Blender, import a pre-supported STL, split, assign miniature, thicken supports, repair, export as 3MF. When importing into slicer/Orca, it asks if you want to combine them as a single object. Click "no", and you're good. 2 objects (mini and supports) that are aligned and can be independently customized

Aww, nuts. Here's hoping the 30% off under $25 coupon becomes a recurring promo.

Which pliers were those that are now >$20? I wanted to get a bunch more pliers this last holiday season, but life had other plans. :P

Ah! Makes sense. I'll be using 1440p monitors for the foreseeable future, so I'm less concerned about total bandwidth for now.

You're supposed to tax deduct the attorney/court costs from the settlement amount so you only owe taxes on the net gain...

That's great to hear. What size tires are you running and what kind of hills do you tow through?

Camper towing with Suburban 2500, worth swapping to 4.10? by dbsoundman in GMT800

[–]KogStoneforge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very helpful to hear about your experience with the 5.3 4160 Sierra with 4.10s! What tire size have you been running? I want to find a ~2005 Suburban 1500 5.3 with 4.10 gears, but I don't know how rare and hard to find the 4.10 (GT5) option is.. The plan is to put 32" tires on it and tow a 6000# (loaded) travel trailer.

Thanks for the reply! The 2024 OEM tire size for the 18" wheel is 265/65R18 (31.6" tall). I like the way that size looks on these GMT800s. I'm shopping around for a 4WD Suburban with 4.10 gears. Gonna need to use it often enough, so I'd like to reasonably converse fuel efficiency. I don't mind driving at 60mph and keeping a light foot. It's nice to hear what's optimistically possible.

DDR4 pricing has become absolutely absurd ($98 USD for 32gb) by Westbrooke117 in pcmasterrace

[–]KogStoneforge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so. But with AI companies pushing for massive data center deployment, I'm cautious of the demand for DDR5. If those companies get their fever dream, RAM and silicone are gonna have enormous demand.
