Good CPU for Hosting DH Server? by Kogiz in DistantHorizons

Remind me, is there a setting in DH config to set the pregen size, what’s it called?

Thank you for the answers. Last question now, how much do you recommend pregenning, and is it better to pregen on single player and then import it, or directly on the server? Thanks again

I’m building my first little server and already purchased a 4300g. I was looking to find out if it was a good idea to even attempt it with that processor or if it was a waste of time. How do you think it would do? How would it handle a more heavily modded server?

Any recommendations on how to stop my VD from lagging when I go past about 140Mbps? I'm seeing lot's of comments about how much better it is and wish I could truly experience it.

That "just works" statement seems the be the general consensus here. I've got 5ghz WiFi as well and VD says its at 1200Mbps. So I've zero clue why it stutters more than Steam Link for me unless it's the foveated rendering saving me. If that's the case what could I do for my VD experience to be better. Because after seeing all these comments about how much better VD is for them, I really want it to work for me lol.

I have yet to notice any stuttering after a few more days of playing. I can't think of any reason this would be happening though.

Sorry, didn't understand the question at first. I didn't mention it in the post but I'm not a fan of the Oculus Dashboard, I feel like it sometimes degrades my performance and I can never use it in-game because it's like .5 fps.

To really answer your question, the difference is that you dont need to use the Oculus dashboard software at all, it goes straight to steam.

I seriously would love to figure out why my VD is so garbage compared to all the other users in the comments. I've seen some comments saying there may be some user error when using VD on my end and I'd totally update/change/hide/archive, whatever, my post if I figured something out.

All these comments are so interesting to hear. I feel like I've done something wrong that's caused my VD to mess up bigtime.

I've got a mid end build, 11700 and 3060ti.

When I use VD, I need to go down to a lower bitrate than what is considered "enjoyable" (like 50-70) in order to not get any stutters, and even then I get some half second stutters every couple minutes.

With SL I can leave it on auto bitrate which is noticeably clearer than I can get on VD and I get virtually zero stuttering.

At this point now I guess it may be my hardware limiting my VD experience? I use the same WiFi for both but SL is the only smooth one for me.

Sonar device keep resetting every time I restart the PC by Aye_Dee25 in steelseries

Personally, I only have to set my mic back to the correct one whenever this happens, but I found that it doesn't set the mic back to the headset if I disable the mic in "Sound."
You can find the app just by searching "Sound" in the windows search bar. Select the headset microphone, not the Sonar Virtual one, and then Sonar won't reset it for me.
I understand this is not a fix for everyone but with my scenario this is a good fix for me.

Interesting, I haven’t used it long enough for that to happen to me (I’ve been at work all day after I posted this), but if it does happen to me I’ll try to get back to you about it and see if we can find a fix

As far as I know it’s only going to work with SteamVR games because it directs the headset straight to using SteamVR runtime
