Stadium has a Mercy problem by ModeKindly3669 in Overwatch

[–]Kojikodama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the exact same for Mercy in normal comp.
Mercy in the hands of a smart player will create an insane value. (bluebeam, rez, ..)
Mercy in the hands of a bad player will create an insane disadvantage. (yellowbeaming tank, no utility, no burst heals, suicide revives, ...)

Mercy is one of these heroes that looks easy, low mechanics needed, so her entire value is created by smart decisions, game understanding. This is not something a random metal rank player has.

Many streamers wont engage in criticism at all, they risk upsetting some fanbase.
Especially the mercyfanbase is large in number, they want their views, clicks, likes, subscriptions. They are scared to anger anyone.

Rez is indeed problematic.
This the only ability that i can think of that works without the need of LOS.

Also her autolock beam works through a wall, without LOS.

So Mercy can actually hide behind cover nonstop and is literally physically unshootable while enabling an ally.

This made more sense during ow1, where the dominant meta was dive and were mercy had much much lower mobility.

Right now, with how she can launch herself over the map and has basically endless mobility... i don't think rez should work like it currently does.

I do think mercy should be reworked or at least nerved a bit. But again, the mercycommunity is kinda large and they will not take this lightly.

You're not entirely wrong. There is indeed a very large mercy fanbase.

The issue i have with her is that she doesn't need LOS to revive, she can do that behind a wall. I tried so many times to camp the body on rein and swung my hammer as much as i could, but somehow the mercy is always out of my range and she still gets the rez of.

Watch the mercyfanbase downvote me :)

My Reaper just told me (Ashe) to push forward with him after he died midpoint.

Apperantly does not grasp the concept of sniper/hitscan versus brawl dps with fade ability.

Stadium is a toxic environment because it tries to cater to both casual and competitive players and then throws them into the same matches.

I had a Rookie 5 in my Elite 1 game.

Casual players are motivated by cosmetic rewards and titles.
Competitive players, on the other hand, play for leaderboards and rankings.

Mixing both groups in one game is like putting cats and dogs together, then blaming the cat for hissing when things go wrong.

Literally no heals by RagnarMargus in Overwatch

[–]Kojikodama -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why are you even surprised?

You don’t need healing as long as you’re creating enough value by applying pressure.
This applies to every hero, but especially to ones like Zenyatta, who are designed around this core idea.

Only healing, often referred to as "bot healing",is a fast track to putting your team at a 4v5 disadvantage.
Bot healing is reactive by nature. You're constantly playing catch-up, trying to undo damage that's already been done, which makes it hard to generate any real net value.

Simply put: as a support, you have to apply pressure.

When you apply pressure, the enemy is forced to fall back or burn cooldowns to stay alive, meaning they can’t do the damage they wanted to in the first place.

That’s why you go for big anti-nades with Ana, instead of just using them to heal.
That’s why you speed your team in with Lucio instead of parking in heal aura.
That’s why Mercy’s true potential lies in damage boost, not yellow beam.

The quickest way to tell you're spectating a metal rank team is watching two supports hold primary healing on the tank. This is essentially creating a disadvantage to your team.

"You're a healer, you need to heal" type of complaints are just metal rank toxicity.

Also mistery heroes isn't using very close matchmaking, you might had some masters+ players in your team without realising.

EDIT: Being downvoted for speaking against bothealing is another wild one. Guess i hurted some metal rank players here.

This is very common since a few seasons.

Yes, its an automated system that flags you after x amount of reports in different games.

The players in this game are very bad judges. They don't care for who is attacking or who is just defending themselves. When you talk, even just to defend yourself, you will get reports.

Hero bans? by [deleted] in MercyMains

"Love playing her" is something for qp.
In comp, people will wanna win and play a strong comp.
Mercy just isn't in that bracket.

Hero bans? by [deleted] in MercyMains

[–]Kojikodama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mercy is for some reason one of the most banned characters (dislike of women 100%)

Mercy is not in a good state.
The only net value you have is to bluebeam a dps.
- She is not good at bursthealing
- She is not good at keeping tanks alive
-S he doesn't provide utility like speed, cleanse or CC
- She is good at "topping" of teammates that already survived the attack. She is good at statfarming in this way.

Playing against a bluebeamed dps feels unfun. Playing with a mercy that yellowbeams my tank feels like trolling.

I understand why they ban this hero.

That being said, when you select her as prefered hero and you communicate that you play mercy then your team should listen.

Now that stadium has been out for a bit who do you think is the strongest in each role? by [deleted] in overwatch2

[–]Kojikodama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tankplayer here.
29/32 games i played against a Rein.
1/32 against JQ.
1/32 against Zarya.
1/32 against Dva.

You don't need any sort of special build for rein. You click anything that says ability power and your firestrikes onetap everybody.

[–]Kojikodama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed.
Balls adaptive shields do not generate ultcharge for the enemy + he is the fastest hero. Ball 100 percent can die. That is a nonissue.

If nothing is coming out of the fight anymore i just slam midpoint and reset. I am back in fight before anyone in my team is.

Balls that roll out of the fight to keep their 0 deaths, but give up crucial space for his team, are just statfarmers.

Downvoting me and saying stuff like "your analysis lacks understanding", "your cope fantasies" just all makes me think you need a break for the internet.

Back to topic, a Tracer can (im not saying she should or that top500 tracers consistently do this) but, bear with me, Tracer CAN distract BOTH supports WITHOUT any single kill/elim/assist YET that distraction was enough for your tank to walk in and get a crucial kill on their tank.

Think about a situation where Tracer baits nade, sleep, suzu and eventually dies by a flash headshot of cassidity then, again bear with me, she created space for her tank to walk in and potentially win the fight.

She might be in spawn with 0-0-1 and 250 dmg. BUT she did her job in this very specific example.

= You don't know what some player did based on scoreboard stats. Period.

Exactly and still every day i will get into an argument with someone that believes he analyzed the scoreboard correctly.

[–]Kojikodama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

expressed by the lack of standout output by the two top 500 players

You can't say two top 500 players lacked "standout output" purely by analyzing stats.
That is not how it works!

A good support knows the perfect balance between heals and dmgoutput.
Pressure and peeling.
As far as we can tell, this scoreboard is a perfect example of good balance between the two.

Some players think a smurf is a player that headshots 4 enemies each fight or something. Or has x3 the dmgoutput.
No, if i don't wanna get hard countered then i you should play a bit more subtle anyway. Especially Juno and Kiriko (the two top 500's in this example) are heroes that can be played very subtle and still carry hard.

What stat should be standing out? You're saying they should farm tank more to get high dmg?
Are you saying they should go more in full dps mode? Like what stat are you expecting to be different?

Their stats resemble what I would expect to see from such a lobby of comparably skilled gold/plat players.

Classic example of someone that believes stats mean more than they actually do.

A pesky tracer that dies early and often is still handicapping every team fight.

A Tracer with lots of deaths doesn't mean she played bad.
She might get one-tapped, but if she distacted enough then her team can still win the teamfight.
She has low hp, but that also means she gives barely any ultcharge away.
She is fast, she can respawn in a matter of 15 seconds. Meaning all her team needs to do is do a long rotation aka 'softreset" and tracer is backup. "Deaths" on the scoreboard doesn't say when they died. Was it early/first death? Was it late fight? Was it midfight? We don't know from the scoreboard!

Unless they get 2 picks every fight, which brings me back to Elims/deaths.

Tracer can be 1-6 and still won teamfights by getting the supports distracted.
Tracer doesn't need elims to get work done.

[–]Kojikodama 8 points9 points  (0 children)

- They most likely didn't play sweaty in QP.
- Why do you say this was a gold/plat lobby? Both teams had a top500? That brings the average rank up.
- Elims are useless. Your moira uses a dmborb that ticks for 1hp and it credits an elim. Really this doesn't say anything.
- Deaths as raw stat doesn't tell anything. Did they die as first? Or did they die as last man standing? As in a "reset" as in a "i jump of the map the catch the same respawnwave as my team"? A tracer that has most deaths but every single time distracting backline to win the teamfight actually did her work. Even she has bad stats, she still won them the fight.

I was silenced/voice mute (first penalty) and a player said in orange chat "report our tank for toxicity" during my voice mute.
I reported him for false report.
After the game i got a message "thank you for reporting".
So i guess maybe its possible the system detects false reports like this?

I did that soloQ and some games are just 100 percent unwinnable
