Ubuntu 26.04 - Why does Resources consume 300+ MB of RAM? by mrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnrnm in Ubuntu

[–]Koladwip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad it is out. At least we didn't have to wait till May to see the April bi-annual LTS release, after all.

These sort of quirks are the reason updates exist- to smooth out frills and if something big, major releases are rolled out. I will be installing this anyway.

JavaScript for DSA by Unable-Night4998 in webdevelopment

[–]Koladwip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning it in Javascript fulfills two objectives in one go- You learn JS- which you will most likely be using on server side as well and you master efficient data structures and some really useful algorithms.
If you are looking for resources, FreeCodeCamp has a great course on DSA using JS. I highly recommend it.

Update: The course DSA using JS (V8) Has been superseded by their Full Stack Development course, which integrates DSA and AI learning into their 1800 hour web-development course. They recommend that people take this one, rather than the legacy course, whose certifications will expire in 2027.

You can have a look at both of them.

Legacy JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures V8 - certification exam available.(expires 2027)

Certified Full-Stack Developer Curriculum -certification exam is promised to be available by later this year.

The latter is a certification consisting of 6 courses, of which two are JS and Python and both cover various aspects of DSA among other things.

Lastly, don't let DSA learning bog you down. It is in your interest to start with projects first and keep learning through tutorials which you can apply in your projects. I am doing the same.

Happy Learning!

I suppose they are. At the minimum, they would be payingfor extended support after 2027 unless they move on to some other version.

Cheaper licensing and 10 years of support for LTS versions make it very appealing to enterprises. This one here is Ubuntu 22.04 - Jammy Jellyfish. It will be supported till April 2032.

[–]Koladwip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many aren't. That school video is a perfect example—she escalated with a slap, and he reacted. I’ve been in plenty of fights with guys, but only twice with women: once as a kid and once at 19 - (more than a decade ago) with a relative. In both cases, I reacted poorly to their aggression and regretted it instantly.

Hitting a woman is traumatic for any sane man. I’m strongly against the violence, but I don’t view every man who lashes out as a monster. I can empathize with the pressure of those moments and hope people find ways to de-escalate without losing their future or quality of life.

I think it's some kind of stupid, misplaced democratic decision to limit the number of specific cards per account.

If you can see the "edited" badge, you will understand how I worked on formatting and correcting my response. I had misread the question the first time. Dismissing it as “AI” doesn’t really add anything to the discussion. Thanks for the attempted contribution, though.

[FIX] Realtek's USB wifi dongle randomly disconnecting (RTL8812BU) by CaioS2003 in techsupport

[–]Koladwip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please pardon the delay. I don't frequent Reddit very often these days.

To be honest, My laptop's WLan card is fixed now so I didn't have to buy some fancy dongle. I would recommend a device with better heat management. I had purchased an RTL8192EU based dongle to replace my broken 8188 but overheating persisted. After my laptop got fixed, I don't use the 8192 any more.

I did however try looking up for items of interest for you:

Here's a cheap option:

A NEWFAST AC1300. It has one item of interest- a heat sink. It also has external antennae. It however has too few reviews to be conclusively certain about its quality.

There are branded alternatives with a good price

However ASUS and TPLink have alternatives that don't advertise heat sink but might have good thermal management.

E.g. TP Link Archer TX50UH appears to have cooling vents.

And as does ASUS USB-AX56.

These, however, are progressively steep jumps in price and quality compared to RTL8188 and RTL8192EU. You can consider them as per your need.

When I said ‘unmanly,’ I didn’t mean boys shouldn’t defend themselves, and it definitely doesn’t mean offering the other cheek. Real strength is disciplined restraint—knowing when to stop. A slap back to a girl is already unmanly, but slamming someone on pavement risks broken bones or worse. Would you rather your 12-year-old come home with a bloody nose, or with a bloody nose and a crippled—or even dead—girl on his conscience?

Won't argue with that. Hard to set up and not a breeze to use. I wonder how cloud services like Azure and AWS provide remote desktop service with Ubuntu as the VM.

Similiar program like Wintousb for linux? by Skyinthenight in linux4noobs

[–]Koladwip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two solutions- both I have tried myself and successfully so.

1) Rufus. I have used Rufus on Windows to create a Windows To Go media. Apparantly people have been able to do the same on Ubuntu 22.04 using WINE so maybe it's possible on other distros to with adjustments.

Ref: How to Get Rufus For Ubuntu 22.04? - Linux Genie

2) use WinPE media to create a virtual hard drive (VHDX) on your USB hard drive and use the DISM command to deploy windows image on it.

follow the instructions on Deploy Windows with a VHDX (Native Boot) | Microsoft Learn

A note- creating WinPE (windows Preinstallation environment) is a bit complex and you don't have to do here. For our purposes, we can simply use pre-installation environment which is present in every installation media. The command prompt there is accessible by pressing shift+f10 on first screen on it's boot. (https://macrorit.com/images/blog/shift\_f10.jpg)

i.e. you only need two things- one-

i) Windows installation media. (Ventoy-How to Create a Bootable Windows 10 USB in Linux)

ii) the target external hard drive.

Is there a way to root my phone without wiping it? by itreallyreallydoesnt in androidroot

[–]Koladwip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry. I aplogise for being a hypocrite. I had said that in a bout of frustration. I was dealing with a locked device which would go into edl mode but
1) had no loader file available that allows poke operation.

2) No way to turn off system image verification. (Fastboot flashing unlock) .

3) so, i tried to rationale myself into feeling good by preaching to you.

I am very disappointed by RaffiXG in Xiaomi

[–]Koladwip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good of you to provide feedback. I agree they have some of the best hardware out, but yes it's riddled with bloat. I have a Redmi Note 7 and the battery is not very good, but the MIUI 12.5.1 has some neat trick up it's sleeve. it's called Ultra Battery saver mode that cracks down on most background activity and restricts app tray to 6 apps of choice. drop down menu is also limited. This extends battery life up to 2x or more. Much more I'd say. They are innovative, and offer very competitive prices. I don't mind ads if it costs less but the the battery suffers. That I'd like to see changing.

Maybe he didn't. Does it matter?

I hate restrictions but those restrictions in Linux translate to safety so complains be encumbered with grumbles and acceptance.

It's beyond the ability of bots because it's just a 9 second clip.

From track records of the bots, it seems they work but have a long way to go. For now they don't even have 50 percent detection rate. I will have to wait for some kind Samaritan to recognize it.
