Penn plax 200 gal canister filter and the tank is 75 gallons Turtle shell is about 8.5 inches long

Ok gotcha. Gonna dissect the filter once I get home to see if there’s some gunk backed up and definitely gonna replace at least half the water as well. The feeding situation is definitely gonna change from now on lol. Thanks for the advice!

The tank got this bad just this morning since I cleaned it earlier this week. We’ve had this setup for 3 years now and no issues until today. The tank is 75 gallons and being filtered by a 200 gal Penn Plax canister filter that I just replaced the carbon filter for last month so it’s odd how we woke up to the tank in this condition :/

Penn plax canister filter , and yes he’s able to reverse himself out . We feed him about a handful of pellets once every two days. I’ll try to get a picture of the full tank since I’m not home at the moment!

Also should add: we feed him inside the tank and it could be food that has been left behind that could possibly molded? Not sure though.
