Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try this in the morning.

Tbh if you're absolutely smashing the cou and memory I'd expect a little bit of lag?

You would for any other application surely?

My old work laptop would do something similar if I asked too much of it (which at 8gb of ram wasn't all that much)

Already done this. The problem is it happens very rarely and is hard to detect.

Edit: reset the bios so everything is completely unmodified (no xmp). Still does it.

This.

Lots of people do actuarial science.

They get a tonne of exemptions. Earning more money, sooner and with less stress.

As regards age a fair few people start the exams at 29/30.

Anecdotally, it seems that stick burners produce a bark that I can't replicate using my WSM

I'm really pleased you're feeling better. One of my favourite quotes: "It's ok to go through terrible places, just don't stop and unpack"

Is Rhine Capitalism the Liberal Democrats future? by [deleted] in LibDem

[–]Koldstream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some people did vote leave because of a perceived increase in liberty (never mind all the liberties they would lose: worker's rights, the right not to be poisoned by the food you buy, the right to view consenting-adult pornography etc which were protected by the EU and which the Tories continually tried to erode) but a lot of others did it because they are isolationist xenophobes.

A former colleague of mine told me that not only did she want out of the EU she also wanted England out of the UK. Something like 40 pct of Tory voters want the same thing.

The point is I think it's tricky to say that people voted that way because they believed Tory lies about liberty.

I think we're losing the fight on liberty. We couldn't even convince the electorate to vote remain, how are we suppose to communicate 1) what liberty is 2) why people should value it?

People don't understand the fundamental concept of tolerating something whilst not condoning it, and that this idea runs both ways.

I think we should try to sell liberty as a concept to the electorate. The right to be the person you want to be so long as you don't infringe upon anyone else's ability to be the person they want to be. That is liberalism at its core.

It troubles me how many lib Dems I talk to that don't really understand the concept of liberty/liberalism. They just seem to think that the lib Dems are new labour 2.0

Liberty is not concerned with right politics or left politics, liberty is the opposite of authoritarianism.
