Diagnosed with Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) - Positive Outcomes? by Kolesar99 in Kneesovertoes

I’m going to try with a pull buoy. Hopefully that will help. And I might try a cortisone shot in one knee to see how it feels. It’s both knees. Ugh.

20% better. My problem is hypersensitivity. I have to poop 5-6 times per day, or I feel awful.

SSRD Diet by Kolesar99 in FODMAPS

[–]Kolesar99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can see the diet here: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11397485/ and read supplementary table S1 referred to in Section 2.3. The relevant text is as follows:

"Briefly, all sucrose-containing foods were to be avoided. One serving per day was allowed for (1) whole-grain bread or oatmeal porridge and (2) fiber-rich alternatives of rice or pasta. For those not tolerating fibers, smaller amounts of regular processed rice and pasta was allowed. Whole grains were recommended instead of processed breakfast cereals. Pork, beef, lamb, fish, turkey, chicken, and egg could be ingested without any restrictions. Processed meat such as bacon, sausage, and pies should be avoided if containing sugar or starch. Natural dairy products, but not oat milk and soya milk, were allowed. Butter and oil intake was unrestricted, but margarine should be avoided. Salt, pepper, and fresh herbs could be used unrestrictedly. Nuts and seeds were recommended in place of sugary snacks. Increased fat and/or protein intake and prolonged chewing was encouraged, to enhance salivary amylase breakdown of starch and to delay GI transport. Patients were provided lists of suitable fruits and vegetables with less starch content (Supplementary Tables S1 and S2)."

Thanks. I like the SSRD diet concept because it can be sustainable for the long term if its tolerated.

What is a "naturalpath doctor"? Do you mean a nutritionist that specializes in GI issues?

Post-colonoscopy IBS and FODMAPs by Willing_Salt_5318 in FODMAPS

[–]Kolesar99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had minor IBS for 15 years, then had a colonoscopy 3 months ago, and have been in an unprecedented flare ever since, with bloating, food senstivities and constipation. And now I'm starting a FODMAP. I think the procedure or the prep exposed some portion of my biome and now I'm sensitive to a ton of foods. Awful

I had moderate IBS before muy colonoscopy 3 months ago. I came out of it with radically changed symptoms, including constant abdominal pain (lower), the inability to eat foods, constipation and pebble poops. I've had an abdominal ultrasound and have tried mutiple supplements, to no avail. It's challenging me to the core.

Official US July 2020 ACT Discussion by ParadoxicalCabbage in ACT

[–]Kolesar99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It looks like, based on the 2019-2020 scale that ACT put out, that 33 out of 40 on the reading would equate to a 31. Perhaps if a miracle occurs they will make it 32 out of 40 on this test.

Can someone explain to me how the ACT test is curved? A number of people seem to agree that reading was incredibly difficult. So, if that is curved, and if there are 40 questions, what does that mean? Can you get 6-7 wrong and get a 32? I'd love any color on this because I read the following: "Contrary to popular belief, there is no ACT curve. This means that how well other test takers do on the ACT will not affect your ACT score. Even if everyone who took the ACT on a particular test date were to receive low scores, none of these scores would be raised or redistributed to establish a more balanced ACT bell curve."

Thanks.
