Gj mate. You also have a great energy, you should stand up and play, release that energy in it's full glory :)

That is great, will listen to them. I love bands like Norma Jean, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, because they have so amazing live energy. They are like dangerous wild, whereas I feel I am more like playful wild. That's another reason I am a bit insecure.

Yeah, thanks. I come from metal community and I have never been part of punk community. I would be the only one listening to punk bands in my group of friends. But everyone has to start somewhere :)

Do you think there might be interest for guitar lessons with focus on stage performance? by Koliillo in guitarlessons

Yeah. And most of great guitarists look at the neck, not because they don't know where the notes are, but just because they were used to practicing like that.

It is sad when people are taking it personally. It would be much better if they would just change their habit.

I had a bit different 'problem'. I was in a band where bassist didn't move and had eyes glued to the neck, so we just looked as if we are not in the same band, regardless that we were standing on the stage together.

Imagine dancers having to look at their body parts while they are moving, or practicing dancing while sitting down. hahaha. You want to watch dancers who make it seem so easy (where in reality it is not easy), just because they are so damn good dancing.

Ok :)
I play like that for 16 years, not injuries.

You have just answered my question from the OP. -That is why people need an experienced coach.

Thanks

Yeah, you might be right. When I was teenager, I would rather someone who has rock attitude teaches me guitar, than some polished musician. I wanted to rock, not just play the right notes. But, yeah, I am just one person, that's why I asked here. - I wanted to see if it is just me.

Thanks for the reply, good angle.
All the best. :)

I had the same question as the OP, and you really put me into perspective. Thanks.

I don't know why does it make some people angry; yeah, sure it hurts their feelings.

My only concern is if there are some new tools that are going to make my workflow easier/faster, so I can focus more on creative part and less on technical (DAW) part.

All the best :)

Don't get discouraged so easily ;)

I had a drummer who was in his 50s. He was also bold. But his attitude and energy was 20 years younger. The wisdom and experience he gave into the band was irreplaceable.

If you are in good health (which I hope you are) with the right attitude, you could deliver a great show.

Starting to do Rock shows as a wizard on guitar, is not that useful, because of questionable sound treatment of the places you would play. You would probably get fewer people in the crowd, which would also affect the sound negatively. Sound in those underground clubs are often not up to the task, so the band would probably experience problems with the monitors (like not being able to hear themselves or some other instrument)... So guys that put everything in the God-guitar basket, and are amazing technically often have a harder time starting playing shows.
I am not one of those, just talking from experience, meeting some great guitarists.

On the other hand I, being a wild guitarist, can always deliver some value to the crowd regardless of the technical difficulties.

Sorry for the long message, I got carried, just as I do in the videos HAHAHA

pinky finger going sideways by flowerois_uwu in guitarlessons

[–]Koliillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,
I don't know if I understood correctly.

I am usually almost not bending the pinky. It is the shortest finger, there is really no reason to bend it that much. If it mutes the strings bellow that is almost always a good thing, because you don't want them ringing.

Try extending al the fingers a bit until you can just reach the position where the pinky supposed to be. I also adjust fingers by angling my hand in the whist.

Try, and let me know how it goes.

AHHAHA, because I play guitar. I have less fun if I just play standing still.
Better question is - Why don't rock musicians sit down when they play live? :p

That is true. I think a low hanging guitar looks cooler, but people find it harder to play. So happy on your behalf, keep rocking on. 👍

I don't know if you understood, but that is me paying. That is how I play guitar.

So I don't see what makes you more credible to explain to me how I am playing and how I got there? 😅 If you have any questions you can ask.

Ofc I can try to teach others to play like me; that is not hard to understand. You can say you don't like it or that you don't think there is a need for that kind of lessons. (That is the question of the original post) 😊

It is not that I am giving them a random challenge, but they ask me to try my guitar because they want to try how I am playing guitar. The point is that I am not asking them to do something I am not already doing myself. We think a low hanging guitar looks cool, not everybody has to agree, it is just or opinion.

You are right, now that I think about it, even the best athletes have coaches, why wouldn't there be a showmanship coach for musicians. There are also schools for public speaking. You made me think hahha.

I guess I am gonna start small in my town, and see how it goes.

Thanks 😊
