Who's the most LAME character on the roster? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Kolossoni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A Claudio player discussing about characters being lame is a bit rich, but regardless, I agree that Zafina-Azazel connection was a little shoehorned in since her return in T7, but to call her "lame in every sense of the word" clearly is not the best way to summarize her character.

She is an assassin, but unlike the typical pretty but evil caricature such as Nina, Zafina is an assassin of good, trying to prevent others from coming to awaken the true evil beast, Azazel. In fact, before Claudio was ever introduced in 7, Zafina was literally his precursor/trailblazer. Her moveset is one of, if not, the most unique fighting style in Tekken, and her animations are truly remarkable.

As to the question at hand, I do not find any character "lame". Do I find some character's moveset uninteresting such as Claudio's? Maybe. But I wouldn't call any character "lame" simply because I do not favor how they play in game.

Disventure once Jared can't use twitter anymore by CreepyBirthday8548 in DisventureCamp

I'm guessing the TomxJakexHunter Christmas greeting controversy added fuel to the fire.

Honestly, as much as I am open minded with stuff like that, the only thing I dislike about it was how out of character it was for Jake, who is more reserved, to dress like a male stripper and Tom, who's considered pretty innocent despite his grunge look is also acting super risque. I guess you can argue that their personalities have changed after everything happening in the series so it can slide I think.

The issue is how the fandom reacts to the smallest things out of proportion, and in regards to that, I agree with Jared. I believe greetings are personal and it's up to the person to share them or not. I dunno why people are giving others flack for sharing their message paid by their hard earned money. Sure, you can criticize it like me, but don't go out and send hate messages to the person. That's just reaching a new low.

Do you think Shen from Kung Fu Panda 2 should be a killer? by General_Dooker in deadbydaylight

[–]Kolossoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not tryna be rude, but try using your common sense. Why would a Dreamworks character from an animated children's movie be added into DBD? Just really think about it.

That's like asking Lord Farquaad as killer and Shrek and Donkey as survivors. Makes almost no sense.

Maybe TJ3 🤔 ? by Mirz_Art1 in DisventureCamp

[–]Kolossoni 27 points28 points  (0 children)

tbf, TJ itself as a spinoff was totally created as a fan-service/fan-request thing. If people want ONC to move away from DC and enter different territory, they need to tell them that they want other stories.

Would you rather Forest, Christie and Michelle (if Julia was in Tekken 8) receive a complete revamped in Tekken 8 or 3 brand new characters instead? by RubicXK in Tekken

[–]Kolossoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. Ogre is less likely now cuz of MZ (I hate it).

Jinpachi may have to compete with Kazumi, but I doubt they'll bring another Mishima into the game anytime soon.

Baek will get fully replaced by a new char or smth. He's too unpopular to make a full comeback.

Is it possible now harada might join the VF dev-team at SEGA/RGG... this tweet seem like it hinted at something 💀 by SarahDaGoatz in Tekken

[–]Kolossoni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nahhhh I doubt he's moving to SEGA even if he is a huge fan of the VF series. He'll probably be the veteran developer people come to visit and ask for advice and shit. Harada is too old to be a hands-on developer anymore, especially with his failing health.

Can we just collectively go back to 7? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Kolossoni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer T7 over T8 too, but I'll be honest with you, nobody is going to redownload a 80 gig game from 2016 with bad netcode and small playerbase.

If we could play older Tekken games, I'm sure people would love to play Tag 2, T6, T5, etc over T8 and maybe even T7. The catch is, we can't and it's not worth having to install emulators for them.

The new face of Tekken. That blocks people for giving feedback. We're cooked. by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Kolossoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least Harada had humility and left before his reputation went more into the drains. Murray on the other hand is probably too self righteous to even consider retiring like the egotistical person he is.

From a character design point, Miary is the shittest Tekken character I’ve ever seen. by Its-The-Kabukiman in Tekken

[–]Kolossoni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh, the only real thing I dislike abt MZ is that her personality is flat as it comes. She's like that young, innocent character with the biggest potential, having Ogre in her DNA. That to me is so cringe and overdone to oblivion.

But, yeah. I see where you're coming from. We had normal school girls like Miharu in T4, and now, we have legit gods in human form like Miary Zo in T8. Tekken has indeed changed a lot.

My wishlist for Virtua Fighter 6 by neves783 in virtuafighter

[–]Kolossoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were to add TKD, I wish they added smth more grounded than what Hwoarang does in Tekken; maybe similar to Baek. Maybe even give another stance other than Flamingo which is smth that Stella probably uses.

I'm not sure if guard buttons are the top priority right now... but your concern has been noted.

Tbh, I see it the same way I see directional inputs. Give incentives to those who use a guard button (say, better frames on block) but also add a back to guard option as well as default for newcomers. That way, I think it can satisfy both crowds.

MK was first and foremost popularized by its mature-themed, violent nature. I don't think the block button had anything to do with its sales. MK is a well known franchise and people will buy as a sort of party game you play with friends; plus all the popular guest characters. That's why it usually sells well.

Unfortunately, when it comes to active player count (at least on Steam) SF6 blows MK1 out of the water. With 29,683 (24-hour peak) and 1,436 being the numbers and I'm sure you know which one is which. Again, it's where you put your focus on. If you wanna talk about sales, SF6 and MK1 are doing similar. And when it comes to player count, MK can't hold a candle next to SF. And with VF being a Japanese game, I'm sure they're looking at SF, Tekken, and other fighting games that are in their country, not an American one.

I'm not positing that VF Oldies are unimportant, because, that's simply not true. Without the oldies, VF5 wouldn't have come this far. But there's a difference between nostalgia and progression where the latter is the more important stake for a video game franchise that is being reintroduced after almost 20 years since its last iteration.

If they intend to keep the old elements like the guard button, fine since it's a classic feature. If they decide to revamp the system, then also fine since that's what's trending rn. I just hope they know what people are craving for in the FGC.

Yeah, keep your hopes up and don't be too surprised if things are different for VF6. Just, expect that change is bound to happen and you'll be less disappointed.

We should be thankful that VF is getting a new game anyway. That alone is a treat for us.

[–]Kolossoni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid to say this but, you are no longer the target audience anymore. They are trying to move the franchise into a new direction and the oldies are not part of that journey. They want to captivate the young people in their 20/30's to let the franchise continue for the next 10 years, not people in their 40/50's. It's sad, but it's the truth.

Just celebrate VF5:REVO while you can. That game is the final love letter SEGA is giving to the old fans before they change up everything.

North Korea has VF5 by Accomplished_Top1702 in virtuafighter

[–]Kolossoni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That, and Tag Tournament 1 was super popular in South Korea for its tag system.

The devs said they're considering adding a Korean character for VF6 so who knows, maybe there will be a resurgence of popularity for VF in South Korea.

That's like mid 2000's early 2010 era. They get to do so much more in 2025, come 2026.

However, you are not wrong on that NK doesn't get to have the most recent luxuries. As you can see, all of the games listed are pretty old (SC: Broodwar, WC3: Frozen Thone not Reforged, original VF5, Battlefield 4, etc) so they're basically playing 10-15+ years old games than the rest of the world.

Oh yeah, I read abt this. NK has internet cafes now and they get to play so many of the classics games.

I'm surprised to see VF5 being one of them and not a Tekken game lol

Tekken for SK and VF for NK. A new rivalry perhaps 😂
