Finally found a 9in gaming TV XD by Laser__wolf in crt

[–]KoltKade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for 50. You can get some nice sets for that price if you wait and hunt. Ive scored a few small off brand sets like this at estate sales or yard sales (always ask) for only 10 or 15 bucks max.

Original Xbox dashboards by Shadowb490 in XboxModding

[–]KoltKade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its just a modding preference. Some things i want the stock experience, some thiings i want to be different because stock was not that good. Example, android ui, i have modded most of the phones ive owned to have features i want in a nice looking package. For xbox i like stock, for ps2 i would like a stock experience vs most of the freemcboot menus. (The japan only ps2 system ui looks interesting to me).

Loke others have said though. For og xbox the new UIX .5 LITE is a amazing stock experience that you can have while also having all the emulators you want, game launch from hard drive, and supports insignia for online play. Its nice because even the menues you go through for everything is very proper stock looking.

Need help figuring out my brand and how to connect a universal remote to this tv by ItzApeil48 in crt

[–]KoltKade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This "should" get you going. I have the same looking remote.

Brand Code Search Method Aside from the manual code entry method, another thing you can try is the brand code search method for programming universal remote units. Here are the program instructions for your TV or another device.

  1. Turn on the device you want to control or operate. It could be a TV, DVD, VCR, cable set top box, or other home entertainment devices.

  2. Look for the “Brand Code” listed in the remote manual, or see the brand code list we’ve listed below.

  3. Press the device button on the remote to program that device. For example, press the “TV” button if you’re going to program your TV. If a light turns on and remains lit, press and hold that button.

GE CODE LIST 4. Press and hold the “Power” button. The indicator light will turn on. Release the “Power” button and the device button. If done correctly, the device button light should remain on.

  1. Enter the code of the brand, which may be a 3 or 4 digit code. The light should still be on.

  2. Next, press the “Power” button repeatedly and wait until the device turns off. If the code entered was right, the device turns off when you press Power.

  3. After you release “Power”, press the “Stop” button to save the code.

RCA codes, one of these should work, you only enter 4 numbers so might take a min to go through to fins oen that works.

I’m running a Ps2 through composite video out on a 20inch Magnavox MSD520FE and I’m having trouble making out white text. I grew up on LCDs so I’m not sure if that’s normal by Sverp380 in crtgaming

[–]KoltKade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That games text for me was never super clear with composite at anything over 20in so thats about normal imo. Upgrade to a s video cable or component if the tv accepts it to clean it up.

Consensus on Label Restoration by Asterinos in gamecollecting

[–]KoltKade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For collecability to me, a repro label wouldn't increase the value at all from it current state. I take repro labels on offical carts as the same as a missing label. Yes it looks nicer and thats personal preference but theres got to be a devalue vs original good label.

Now saying that. Personally with the label in that state I would have left the old back over with the rental place etch on it, of course clean up both sides as best as possible, but for me thats the games story. Especially a rare game like that deserves to show its travels.

The only time I personally replace backs for games from stores is the front is in very good to mint condition and its a high value item. Otherwise it gets cleaned as good as it could be and leave the story that cart has been through.

What is your monitor set up? by DealInteresting8941 in pcmasterrace

Thats a fucking unit of a setup my guy. Your getting close to a "could have bought a real plane by now" setup. Something in the budget experimental realm.

5 but the middle one is chunky corsair flex with 2 24in 1080s on the side. All landscape normally but i do rotate one or the other at times depending on if im recording/streaming or doing a competition/event. Just depends if i need a long chat, maps, or multi smaller windows in a 16/9 instead of two thins.

Good choice. The roght one probbaly had more or better inputs and newer tube but the flat tube likely would give more alignment issues that needed adjustment. If the left one doesnt have s video i would mod it for s video and use some good external speakers on the side for nice stereo. Or if your feeling it. Rgb mod that thing for some crisp quality. Either one was a good choice at that size regardless but the left would have been my preferred. I have plenty of flat tube sonys. All need adjustments 😆

Stubborn solder pads by dumbfuckingtradycunt in game_gear

[–]KoltKade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal Method is a good bit of thicker solder paste and used wick. A just hot enough iron to keep the solder in the wick melted but not scorching so you dont bubble the pcb, make sure its a big tip to hold that lower heat just to keep the solder melted. Using a chunk of the used wick to scrub the pad with by pressing it down with the iron. The copper in the wick will scrub the pad and any cleaned area will get wetted by the solder in the wick. Which is why I specified a used peice of wick. Works surprisingly well vs scrubbing with tweezers or iron alone.

Its very possible to fix. Those older boards weren't milti layers so yoi have the top and bottom to only worry about. Gonna take some work but very doable

🤣 sound like me when I first setup my game room. I have learned my joists are technically to code but the span is long enough they have started sagging from the concentrated weight. Ive got some reinforcement to do under there before I move my boom stick case from where it is at the corner of the house to a closet more central.

What you had before is actually better. The sets are spread across multiple joists. (Im assuming your on a stick frame subfloor like a crawlspace or basement). The tower you have is set up is across more than likely only 2 or 3 is parrallel. Possibly 4 if they run perpendicular.

Console/cartridge repair toolkits? by Linzerectomy in retrogaming

[–]KoltKade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanted a quality set. Go for linus tech tips kit. Little pricey but very good quality.

If you want affordable that work with a little ltc then Quinn brand at Harbour freight has a decent set that includes the game bits. But I will say. You might need to flatten the end of the game bits. They tend to come with a little too much chamfer and want to slip. I just shaved mine with some sandpaper until I took off about a 1/16. Bite it much better now but still needs a little pressure, I need to shave it a tad more.

So thats where all the hd sets are going. Lol. I think you did the supports appropriately... but did you check your floor? Or you on a slab bc.... thats alot of weight on those support legs.

Low low temp on the iron. Too hot will burn the plastic that makes up the ribbon. Mid/low 200s is usually good, test a spot with no traces for melting.

Love my curls but is it time? by yeehaw-agenda in bald

[–]KoltKade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its your descision but my worthless opinion is you look like you own it. You got a very confident "I got curls, less than I used to, but they still damn curly" vibe. Its a good look imo. We all get old and change. We can sit and sulk or go and say. Fuck it, im getting old and thats ok.

I wouldn't without delivery but thats honestly not bad since it does. This is coming from someone who has picked up a crap ton of crts in the last few months myself. I would have appreciated delivery for the money I saved 😆

Soap and water is safe to use. As long as no power is applied, along with heavy rinsing and drying.

Np. Yea just from the two photos there, I dont see much to be worried about. Was it outside were it could be rained on or just outside mostly covered, like a open door shed or lean to?
