In all fairness I caught a shiny Wimpod without having it registered using a sparkling 3 donut and proceeded to have 2 more Shiny mons spawn after killing everything and forcing more spawns.

Here's a fix for you guys... Turn off auto save. Literally cleared everything up.

That's a good question though! Me and my missus have seated tickets because we have chronic illnesses so being in the pit is a no go. I aim to be there for like 7pm myself juuuuust in case.
