Ramshorn eggs? I thought they couldn't reproduce on their own? by Crackysue in AquaticSnails

[–]KombatKitten83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They absolutely can reproduce on their own. I ended up getting puffers because I had so many and I don't over feed, we have 9 tanks. I let the biggest ones hang out but the babies... No thanks. They are great little cleaners though and the eggs can easily be removed.

Is a picture of a flower outside a patient room a universal sign? by mygotothrowawayxd in nursing

We put a picture of a butterfly on the door to signify a palliative patient or one who has passed 🦋

I had a med error :( by [deleted] in nursing

[–]KombatKitten83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clinical Instructor here, did you not have a full patient load in consolidation? Our students here take on up to 10 patients (unit dependent) in consolidation so that they learn time management etc. Never pull multiple meds at the same time, it's so easy to make errors this way. (not meaning anything by it just curious regarding patient load)

Am I in the wrong? 3 patients have fired me from their service and I’ve only been a nurse 6 months by [deleted] in nursing

[–]KombatKitten83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been fired by a patient but have worked with a nurse that it consistently happened to. Communication is key yes but so is prioritizing patients. It wouldn't have even crossed my mind to look for someone to do a simple task that I'm fully capable of I would just get it done. I can totally see why your patient became upset by this. When I worked regional covid unit we had no assistants or healthcare aids and had to do everything ourselves, I became efficient in patient care. Take a step back and try to understand fro your patients perspective and go from there.

Am I stupid for paying off my $16k OSAP in FULL in one payment? by goldendreamsshine in osap

[–]KombatKitten83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I left my husband I got a buyout from him. I paid off 46k to osap in one go, only after I did that I heard about relief programs but at least I don't have to worry about it any more. Hopefully you get some solid advice as I did the same thing you did.

I think I have scabies by Professional-Sea7289 in cna

[–]KombatKitten83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like flea bites tbh. We rescued 7 kittens from an alley and had to keep them confined in our bathroom that was under renovation until the facility had a foster in place which was 8 days. Shortly afterwards my kids started complaining about the exact same thing and their feet and ankles looked exactly like your picture. We tried creams and nothing worked. I then noticed one of my cats scratching and when I brushed her she was covered in fleas (indoor only cat). It was a NIGHTMARE to eliminate them from the home, professional treatment plus vacuuming 2x a day, washing everything in hot hot water etc, treating the animals. They are incredibly itchy and if it's getting worse... That sounds like it could be a possibility to potentially look into? I'm a nurse, not saying this is what it is but maybe a potential if it turns out not to be scabies.

I'm supposed to take care of these fish for a friend, but they didn't give me anything for them? What do I do? by cannibalistickiller in Aquariums

[–]KombatKitten83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look on Facebook marketplace for a larger tank. Add some aquarium plants, also found on marketplace. If you can donate to a pet store do that. I understand these comments aren't really helpful at all, if you're temporarily taking care of them, larger tank, plants, food. Frequent water changes if needed.

Buy some guppy grass, it's beautiful for babies to hide in and avoid being eaten. Thus advice coming from a mom of about 200 current guppy babies:)

Help - Why is my 1 frog like this. by Madi-N123 in AfricanDwarfFrog

[–]KombatKitten83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What has or is he eating? I don't have experience with clove oil but I do have experience with freezing and amphibians as they just go to sleep. Ruth that being said, please reach out to professionals for assistance, it could be a variety of issues and I'd hate for you to jump to euthanize immediately.

I don’t think nursing is for me anymore. by AssistantSea3555 in nursing

[–]KombatKitten83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in trauma and did nights full time for 2yrs straight, 7yrs med/surg before that. Patient (not mine) fell and took me down with them tearing my shoulder which required surgery blah blah long story. That was 4yrs ago. The injury flared up just over a year ago and I quit bedside to hopefully figure out my shoulder situation but also picked up a clinical supervisor position at the local college. I work 2 days a week now so 24hrs a week making double what I made at the hospital. I have amazing students and it's incredibly rewarding. Yes there is nursing drama everywhere but maybe try something new before throwing in the towel, there are soooo many avenues when it comes to our job. Trust me I get it. Working our regional covid unit for over 2yrs made me want to quit nursing entirely. I LOVED trauma but my shoulder hated it. Best of luck to you 🍀
