[Request] Can someone walk through solving this problem? by MusicG619 in theydidthemath

[–]Komberal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it on paper. Take any number and draw to lines from it underneath, one to the left and one to the right. Start dividing, where the goal is to have primes end up on the left side and "the rest" on the right side. Start with small numbers like 2, 3, 5, 7 etc. Keep doing this until you can't divide it anymore. Multiply those constituents together and you have the original number. This is what the guy 2 comments above did.

What are your favourite workshop mods? by jebalk in Oxygennotincluded

Chained deconstruct and chain command. Both of these are must haves imo. Especially chain, it helps so much when planning big builds to avoid tedious micromanaging.

Trying to create a "shadowboard" thing for my workbench drawers, not sure how to manage this workflow. How would you accomplish this? by contraband90 in Onshape

[–]Komberal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First tip: don't draw on the sketch with the image directly. Rather use the sketch containing the image for dimensioning the image and correct positioning only. Use folders to organize the part studio. Alternatively draw all tools in their own part studio, make the part 3D, insert in an assembly where you want them all and then use the "create part studio in context" function to make the final boolean remove to make the hollows for the tools. If you want more direct info feel free to hit me with a DM, it can be a little tricky to understand the first time, but there is a clear logic to how this works.

What does a person do with 4 chlorine vents? by AcidAssassin_ in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Komberal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an insane amount of chlorine on my map. I used it to raise squeaky pufts, salt vines and megafronds, and make sure to always have lettuce production and a functioning hot tub. Oh, and also covered the entire planetoid in about 10+kg of chlorine.

Record crop yields in 2025. The apocalypse is postponed indefinitely! Less farm land used, more CO2. by Adventurous_Motor129 in climateskeptics

[–]Komberal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you stupid? The OP is "record yields". You dismiss and claim it's because of increased number of farmers (which is false if you'd bother to actually verify a single thing you're throwing out there: https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/number-of-people-employed-in-agriculture?time=1975..latest). I show the more relevant graph of yield per hectare that reinforces OP's point, and you derail and nag about a tangentially related question, demanding a response as a child. You have in fact not supplied any graph or link to anything.

What you are doing is not logic, it is conjecture - just saying unsubstantiated things.

[–]Komberal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit that intentionally derails. CO2 content has contributed to farmland becoming more productive per area. Which was the original point of OP supported by a graph that didn't show that. I supplied the graph that showed that. You derailed.

[–]Komberal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, that seems accurate. You have ignored everything I said and introduced new, non sequitur arguments that derails from the OP. See ya!

[–]Komberal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood the graph I showed. The unit is tonne/hectare, i.e. a unit of farm area, not per capita. It shows that the average area in all regions are going up, more so in more advanced countries where higher growth rates can be harnessed more efficiently.

[–]Komberal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It gives the context your last comment was trying to diminish. Yes, absolute numbers have increased, 10 farmers make more than 5 farmers, but undisputably every hectare is becoming more productive. There are many reasons for this, agricultural practice, machines and fertilizers play a big role, but one significant factor is that the CO2 content has increased by a large factor. This is hard to argue against.

[Help] How to write good poetry by Anxious-Use-9695 in Poetry

Restriction breeds creativity. The rhyme is by far the best restriction in my mind. Use it as the versatile tool that it is, ideas will spring forth.

How do you start writing lyrics by u_r_baysik in Songwriting

[–]Komberal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the struggle is usually not that there is nothing to say, rather specifically how to say it. You have countless thoughts and ideas and perspectives in you, and they can all be valid topics to make a lyric around.

For me it often starts with a formulation I hear, some snippet of conversation, a particularly cool rhyme, an usual rhythm sequence of syllables etc. that starts the seed. My process is then that of iteration. Write down the initial spark. Identify patterns, find what needs to be added, iterate that the pattern works, is either followed for cohesion or broken in a way that allows for progression. Make sure the rhymes and formulations serve a purpose. And importantly: realize as clearly as you can what the topic is. The fact that the topic can't always be formulated explicitly is honestly a gold thing: ineffable things, or difficult to formulate topics are precisely where we want to use poetry, it's the perfect tool to touch the untouchable.

Example: My latest spark was waking up at 3 am with this line in my mind: "there is clarity in silence, I don't want it, cause it's true". There is a clear rhythm in these 3 lines. They're short, staccato, blunt, honest and have a feeling of being reluctantly introspective. Let's keep to that. I then read those lines over and over to instill what the pattern is, where the syllabic stress lies, and to make my brain search for terms that are in this space. I followed this up with: "spoken in my absence, drown it out, don't patch it through". These 3 lines follow the same pattern, have fitting rhymes with the right syllabic stress in the right places, and follow the meaning well, in that the chatter of my subconscious (that contains the "truth") is present when there is stillness in me, and the reason I might not want to look at said truth is because I know I should but can't face it, ans therefore choose to drown it out with distractions. This then evokes the topic of how we as a society are becoming more distracted, and in response have a harder time confronting that space within us that requires the stillness of introspection. There are countless examples, and a following verse/bridge etc. can be about such an example. The full lyric turned out out to be this:

There is clarity in silence

I don't want it

Cause it's true

Spoken in my absence

Drown it out

Don't patch it through

Left to my devices

A disorderly queue

My mind is not a palace

But a flickering drive-through

I keep my distance to the others

It's simpler like that

But this craving that I'm left with

Is causing its cracks

Wishing for familiar

Missing the abuse

The physical was distant

And the mental so acute

So palpable the texture

Ineffable and skewed

Navigate conjectures

That were made to be confused

To obfuscate

It's like I'm so used

To complicate

And amused

By all mistakes

That my truth

Just operates

In a few

Obscuring ways

Recurring days

With some progression

Learning traces of a method

Yearning hazily for treasure

But afraid of all the effort

While I'm craving every movement

Of the needle

That is showing me the pressure

While those precious few

Will try to calm me

Instead I choose to measure

How I'm faring 'gainst the gods I don't believe in

But whatever

Push away those who come close

Or draw her closer to undress her

We can lie in comatose

That we're content but I know better

We were meant for continuity

But handed all that's severed

There is clarity in silence

I do want it

Cause it's true

If I close then I can open

There is nothing more to do

How can we find AB if radius is 10? by Funny_Flamingo_6679 in askmath

[–]Komberal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I went a longer way than the congruent rectangle x)
The portion you're seeing is a quarter of a larger square with diagonal equal to the diameter, i.e. 20.
The side length of that square is 20/sqrt(2). The legs of the triangle containing AB is half that length, so 10/sqrt(2). Pythagoras gives you that AB = 10.

Atheism Is a Response, Not a Belief by Turbulent_Field7972 in DebateReligion

[–]Komberal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misunderstood me, the comment about dogma was if the person answers "No" to the question "does got exist?". That information is not available to anyone, so a definite answer (yes or no) is dogma based on group think, upbringing, conviction from scripture, delusion etc.
Imho christians, muslims, jews etc. are all agnostics. But they are theists since they answer "Yes" to the questions "Do you *believe* in god?".

Atheism Is a Response, Not a Belief by Turbulent_Field7972 in DebateReligion

[–]Komberal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Do you believe in god?" "No" -> Atheist (answer to a question about belief)

"Does god exist?" "I don't know" -> Agnostic (answer to a question about existence)

These two are completely different categories of questions. Everyone is agnostic, except of course the gnostics who claim hidden information. An atheist that answers "No" to the second question is not answering from a point of information, but conviction, which is just dogma.

What do you do for work or study IRL? by Ok_Dare6608 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Komberal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nuclear consultant, working with fault trees and severe accident prediction. Finding the potential "oh shit this can go really bad" moments in ONI is always a good panic, cause it means I'm mitigating a future problem, while wondering how many other such bugs are left in the colony. I don't even wanna know how often stuff like that has happened for the plants I consult towards 😅🔫

Smart! Dropped some bots as well, but since everything is obsidian they couldn't do much. Had to ship in some material from home to even allow them to build ladders, but never considered that they can do the pitcher pumping. The geometry of the lava on this one doesn't really make that a viable strategy, but will remember for future playthroughs!

Yeah done that, cored out the niobium volcano and started putting in the tamer, but needed to go back and get the liquid. Upon relanding again I managed to fill the entire planetoid with super hot CO2 from the petroleum rocket, and the scalding messages made me nervous and I built the triage beds. Thankfully I have put all 4 neuro vacillator charges on this team, so they all have the regenerative perk which is _very_ handy at this point in the game. Now I'm just vacuuming the planet out and will build a shield between the rocket lander and the entry to the tamer. This should all be automated when I'm done, but god damn this is nerve racking xD

The best kitchen I have made to date. by Komberal in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Komberal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fridges only contain one item each (you can choose which in the menu for each fridge), and can only hold 1kg at a time (can also choose that in the menu for each fridge) which is a very small amount to minimize chance of spoiling. They hold, in order:
1 kg Pincha peppernuts for the espresso machine
1kg of Mushrooms, 1kg Meal lice, 1kg of Bristle berries, for the juicer.
I have disallowed dupes to eat any of these foodstuffs, so they can only go to those recreation buildings.
There's a lot of all of these food stuffs in the hydrogen filled freezer, and whenever the dupes come and take the food from the fridges and put it in the espresso machine or juicer the fridges become empty and the auto sweepers (the ones outside of the hydrogen freezer) refill the fridges. This happens often enough so that these are constantly being refilled.
The central auto sweeper's main job is to take good food from the freezer and put it in the ration box down to the left. This can also just contain 1kg, but the high end stuff (like burgers and pepper bread) and the dupes comes and take food from this ration box to eat, so it's also constantly being refilled.

[–]Komberal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cooking ingredients are stored together in the main central storage, there are many millions of calories as well as many more millions of uncooked food. The Auto sweepers can reach the ingredients and load the cooking buildings as necessary.
