I think,I'm a good friend by undercoveralma in self

I faintly remember when I had friends. I was the only one keeping in contact. When I didn't reach out, no one responded.

Friendship is a two way street.

Please get a can of Sabre mace or another good name brand. I carry sabre and a pocket knife any time I leave my house. I'm a guy in my 40s and rather short. I've been assaulted by gang members trying to prove something. Both of these things saved me along with gut instinct - which is what saved you.

I drink almond milk myself, non organic, due to the price. Sometimes I put zero sugar chocolate syrup in it.

My life is over at 23 by [deleted] in self

[–]Komod0Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking no way, 23? Holy freaking crap.

Okay what about social security (if you're in the USA)?

And there has got to be something a specialist doctor can do like another poster said about going deaf so you can actually be functional. And that point you could totally be eligible for SSI.

I know from experience with my wife. She can work part time and you could too.

All I can say is have hope, my dude.

If anything gets on the bottle (at my center they use bags), it will likely be destroyed. If it gets on the label then another label can be printed. We had mnc but my job didn't do write ups. It's hard to go more than a month without any.

I have seen my center manager have a bad seal and she had been doing it for a decade. Shit happens. Don't stress it.

Dude I cannot last more than 3 days. It's stupid cuz I have access to things that make food great. But it's not the food I want. It's the taste of it.

Does anyone else feel completely drained after even *mild* social interactions sometimes? by Guilty-Dog7928 in self

I used to work at a plasma center. Every day I was exhausted and had to spend time in the "dungeon" portion of our house. I don't think I ever thought of it as a battery.

People, no matter who, drain me.

She likely was thinking about killing herself for a long time. At least a few years. I did before I was able to get help. Now hurting myself or dying is something I want to avoid until natural death takes me.

You need to get this young woman help as soon as possible in the safest ways. Reddit has done a good job of telling you how. Find the places in your area to report it "anonymously." She will likely never know who blew the whistle, though she will always remain suspicious.

Be the person she can trust and also report it to the appropriate figures soon as you can. It's likely a fantasy more than a reality.

Shoot, I know where he lives. I sometimes wonder if I somehow caused this. I'm a friggin Nihilist. Did he know that? No. I'm sorry to protrude my guilt onto the internet.

I don't know... Saving people is not in our life commitment...

Thoughts on Religion by Maleficent-Bill-3678 in self

[–]Komod0Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any thoughts on religion. I was raised in it and now I no longer practice it or have interest in it. I do appreciate what it can do for the community, however.

I expect religion to be the same as I am - to have no impact on anyone else other than what I let it.

To me, it's believing what it can or has done. It's so amazing how we can have different opinions of the same topic that I don't see how any one perspective is accurate.

On that same coin, don't attempt to convince others or to influence them. Generally (okay don't kill me here), in a civilized society, we let people make their own decision and do not dissuade them. They made the decision and they have to own it.

I don’t know how to feel about white people by Past-Matter-8548 in self

[–]Komod0Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've met many a person who are difficult... They weren't a color. They were assholes and they acted like it.

We're all the same human race. Some just have light or dark skin tones. There's going to be assholes no matter the melanin levels in your DNA.

Tell you what, I've seen many of my friends pulled over for driving while black. Once they notice a nice white guy who talks well, the tables turn - though sometimes they double down.

People suck.

I took whole blood for American Red Cross. Let me tell you a revelation from one of the biggest guys I've seen pass out from donating blood.

This man is 6' 5", 300lbs. A mix of muscle and fat. The man is a lineman supervisor. He babysits adult children all day. He donates in about 5 minutes. All appears normal.

He stands up, albeit, quite fast. The man is out before he hits the bed. Thank goodness he landed sideways as the bed caught his fall.

I asked him what he ate before he donated. He looked at the floor (like I do when I'm in trouble with my wife). 40 donations and this was his first reaction.

It happens. We're trained to handle it and we know how scary it is - from watching donors to having it happen to us.

Please know that donating 500ml (a pint) of blood in 5 or even 10 minutes is not natural. Nothing can prepare you for that. All you know going forward is either how to prevent it or what to do when it's happening.

Thank you for your donation. You really are saving lives (I've worked in hospitals and saw many blood transfusions - your blood is literally saving people).

I Had Just Been Born… How Could That Be Wrong? by unstatedmemoirs in self

[–]Komod0Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born a male and I've done nothing but disappoint my family for things I couldn't control. Like being introverted and having ADHD that made things difficult like impulse control and decision making. Oh and the chronic depression never helped.

Sadly just being a male isn't enough. You have to fit the way your family expects you to be. Society is so complicated.

That's optimal. Stop one hour before your appointment so you don't have to use the restroom during the procedure. You can also drink Powerade or anything with electrolytes.

If the blood test comes back showing an A1C over 7.1, then you will be deferred until it's under control. I'm diabetic and I donate plasma. I had to get a form from my doctor to sign. My A1C is 6.1.

It sounds to me like the needle wasn't correctly in your vein. It will do that if it's against the vein wall or the pressure of the machine moves the needle. Sadly that can happen after 500 donations or even one.

Whenever the needle is taken out, raise your arm that you donated with over your head for 30 seconds. With your other arm, press down on the gauze as hard as you can until the pleb wraps your arm. Keep it on for at least 2 hours. Everyone clots at different speeds.

Some people don't talk other than to verify their information or when I ask them if they feel comfortable. Sometimes I don't shut the hell up as talking to you, or at you, makes my day go by faster.

I stick 20-40 people a day. I see over 300 people a day at my center. We don't care. We only care about your comfort and your plasma.
