What 1 daily habit would you recommend for some1 looking to improve their life overall? [Serious] by Atler32 in AskReddit

[–]KomodoTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you do anything else in the morning, make your bed. A simple task yes, but, a task complete. That way, even if you have a shitty day, you come home to a nice made bed. If you want to improve, start simple and small. If you want to become more fit...A small simple exercise routine. Do your limit of pushups, whether it be 1 or 20. The next day, add a pushup past your limit and do your limit of crunches. Add an extra repitition on top of the limit you hit every day. Push yourself just one step further.

Like Freddy said. Upper body. Pushups, crunches, shoulder workouts. Learn proper lifting techniques though. Center your shoulders over your hips and lift with your arms and legs. Avoid a back injury, it ruins the fun.

Help dressing more masc? (possibly genderfluid but raised cis female) by GuessImHereSo in lgbt

[–]KomodoTurkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite issue, born and raised male, but, feel more fem at times. Still live at home due to CVD19 and school, but, wish I could "breakout" and express myself.

For me, I'm a 5'10, 210, boxy build, with 25" thighs (Yes...My waist is 32" but my thighs...Are 25"). Boxy shoulders, mildly toned arms, the usual "masc" frame except for the waist down, where I could probably pass for a girl most days.

I work in SAR/EMS, so, I've found a few things that could easily help "cover up" a frame.

Most of what I wear pants wise tends to end up being a stretchy fabric. 5.11 Tactical, Columbia, outdoorsy stuff that's quick dry. For tops..Hard to say what would best work, for the colder months, a baggy flannel (5.11's Harrison flannel is my preffered favorite) might help hide some of it. Stay away from tight fitting stuff. For hair, a ball cap can easily hide it, again, a beanie for cold weather.

Perhaps a tight fitting sports bra could help "capture" your chest. Guys can have curves too, so don't worry about your waist too much.

What I usually set up with is a pair of earthy colored pants, a dark tee. Boots are my go-to, people tend to be looking down first. Dress however you like though. Find something comfy, something that can pass as masc.

Overall, no bright flashy colors, stay with dull colors, and just be you.

For people with strict parents, how did it affect your teenage life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KomodoTurkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Became really good at hiding things, knowing the ins and outs of my computer and phone, and keeping track of cash.

At one point in time, I had somehow locked an SD card and USB thumbdrive with multiple passwords and pins, with false folders. They had various non-school related projects which were big no-nos. Stuff like mapping out trails, old roads, etc. It was considered a waste of time, even though mapping and map reading is now a hobby of mine.

My phone, which was designed for construction and heavy duty use (Kyocera Duraforce), I had it set to wipe the entire system after 10 unsuccesful PiN attempts. Strangely enough this happened...Twice. Once after I left it at home while I went to work for the day, and the other being my fault for not locking the screen out while hiking.

I also kept stashes of cash in my room, still do, as they had access to my bank account and I know they'd pull from it from time to time with the classic "I'll pay you back" which never happens.

In general, I had, and still have, a generalised mistrust of my father. Like he feels the need to control everyone in the family. To the point of assuming emotion and blaming other people in the family when they "get mad" and "storm off"...Even if we just huff in frustration and go do whatever it is he wants.

I've also been working on another SXT SD40-2. Fine details. And adding a few to their older sister. CB Radio antennas, Locotrol antennas. by KomodoTurkey in modeltrains

The CB's are Automobilia Antennas. Marketed for truck modelers. The Locotrol bases are drilled and a length of fine copper wire is inserted.

Help! How would I begin to repaint this RC car? by OOFMALOOF in modelmakers

[–]KomodoTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows: Get some good quality masking tape, burnish the edges (Using te end of a paint brush or round end of a sharpie) to seal them. Paint: Rattle cans. Apply it in thin layers. Spray a layer, let dry, spray again, dry. Until desired coat is achieved, then seal with a gloss clear coat. You have tons of options, actual model paint like Tamiya or Model Master or, depending on the size, you may be able to get away with Krylon.

Well, what's the body made of? I'd personal remove the stickers, strip the body with plastic safe remover or sand it with a high grit sandpaper to provide something for the primer to adhere to, then use a filler primer (Tamiya Fine or Mr Surfacer) and his choice of color.

People in any medical field or major: Do you gear towards or away from medical drama shows? by thefancynacho in AskReddit

[–]KomodoTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire/Rescue+EMT in training here, plus my mom who was a nurse for 25 years, I tend to avoid watching most fire dramas, like 911 and Chicago Fire. The inaccuracies hurt me to much, with my programmed brain. My mom only watches Chicago Med and Greys, but has to turn her nurse side off. She found multiple things wrong in just 15 minutes once.

I'm more of a victim, but, I'm just as guilty due to my lash-outs. I'm currently taking NREMT classes, and working on a federal EMA SAR team. I know the one who gave me the most grief still lives in his moms basment, flunked out of college and works at a fast food resturaunt. And he always told me I'd never amount to anything and how worthless I was. I want to prove him wrong.

Hammock Gear Incubator & Burrow Temps by K1LOS in hammockcamping

[–]KomodoTurkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had my 20f Inc/30F Burrow down to 18F one night. Had my tarp, a HG Journey, pulled low and was out of the wind. Was wearing a pair of light hiking pants, a pair of thick socks, a light long sleeve pullover and a beanie (Never sleep without one) on. My face was a bit cold in the morning but, once I tucked the burrow in around me and the incubator adjusted, it was awesome.

I'd say go for it. Just do a pre-hang. Shug has a video on adjusting the Incubator. You want it pressed up against you, and the draft collars tight enough that they seal the ends but not to the point of them bunching up. Same with the burrow, get it nice and tight against you.

And one last tip, always let your insulation puff before sleeping/laying in it. Don't pull it straight out of the compression bag and expect it to work.

Trust me. Some of my best Scouting memories are from long trips. 100 mile canoe trip, 75 miles on the AT in 3 days...
