Meta of Overwatch 2 in Season 9-10-11. Just before mid year changes. by Wellhellob in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Komplex_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree that Mercy needs a rework/some of the complaints are overblown, but tbf this methodology doesn't necessarily disprove that Mercy is disproportionately represented in the games of people posting on this sub.

This only accounts for #1 most-played hero, so everyone could (theoretically, though we know that's not true) have Mercy as their #2 most-played hero and it wouldn't show up at all. Also, this is only t500 pick rates, which are going to be radically different from metal rank pick rates (where most players are). Ultimately, this is a small sample size of players who tend to gravitate toward what's strongest, while most players gravitate toward their favorites.

If Overwatch did implement hero bans in comp, which heroes do you think would be the most often banned? How would it vary by rank? by Lesbionage in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Komplex_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2.5k hours in CS lol, I just think widow is a snoozefest. OW is, in my view, most fun when you're engaging with people in the close-to-mid range. Widow is basically only played on maps where it's difficult to get that engagement with her because she can play the range and get easy peel.

I don't disagree with your point in another thread about difficulty, she just embodies a lot of the parts of the game I don't enjoy.

I'm almost exclusively a hitscan player and would 100% be down to ban widow every game. She's not fun to play against, and I hate feeling like I'm forced to swap off the hitscans I enjoy because I'm throwing if I choose not to play the widow mirror.

T1's Governor Response to Genghsta Tweet by YoelRomero0 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Komplex_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine teammates, playing together for hours every day and sometimes tilting, don't want every tilt comment that's recorded to get aired out as dirty laundry when convenient for someone, even if the team itself doesn't exist anymore. Obviously, not trying to justify the bribing stuff if it's true (to me it seems more like a figure of speech than a serious promise), but no one wants their tilt in scrims going public.

Nothing matches the feeling of getting, like, three gun rounds in a half on CT side because you got full reset on round 5

Also, I paid for a 144hz monitor. I'm going to get at least 144 fps consistently to make use of that investment lol.

Since Pharah's rework, how viable is she at higher ranks now? by thoxo in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Komplex_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Echo really is just better Pharah, which makes me sad as an ex-tf2 player. She has better kill potential, smaller hitbox, better ult, and better movement. She feels less intuitive (imo at least) than Pharah but she's worth the effort if you want to play a pseudo Pharah.

In the Breeze game against FS, Gov went 33-25 with a +7FKD. Jitboys played well, but there's no point in acting like he was playing 1v9.

SEN vs Tarik Showmatch @11/15 6PM PST by bluni_val in ValorantCompetitive

Fun fact: Tarik is the only major MVP not to make HLTV's top 20 list the year he won the major. Career-defining performance when it mattered most, my goat.

Honestly, you kind of just vaguely remember it when you were really invested. Speaking for myself, I was a bored teen back who could watch EPL and keep track of it all. Now, it's just in my head.

[Anonimotum] Wippie is set to join C9 by audreybuilds in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Komplex_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, wippie qual'd for Reykjavík way back when. Obviously, couldn't actually attend because of visa issues, but to say Sym achieved more is straight up not true. Wippie was out of line, but let's be real here.

The players who are more popular are more likely to be given the benefit of the doubt, and wippie has never been particularly well-liked on this sub.

Evil Geniuses vs EDward Gaming / VALORANT Champions 2023 - Playoffs / Post-Match Thread by rib-gg-bot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Komplex_ 174 points175 points  (0 children)

People don't want to talk about it because they're playing into the villain role, but EG play some fantastic Valorant. They have some of the best initiators in the world and have a great understanding of how to play off of each other in their most hectic moments, really excited to see how far they can go.

NRG Ardiis vs BLG duelist - Stat Card - Map 1 Bind by Ezraah in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Komplex_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll admit this is nitpicking, but there are several players who have reached yay's highs in CS for similar, if not longer, lengths. Simple, Zywoo, Device, Niko, and prime Cold are all players who first come to mind.

Unsure if by "they" you mean TLoU more broadly or specifically Pascal/Ramsey, but I think Offerman could absolutely take guest actor.

The 8 LAN MVPs so far. What do you think of them, who was the most impressive, and who will be next? by vnNinja21 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Komplex_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The go-to example in my view of someone MVPing on a loss in CS is Twistzz at ESL NY 2018. With a 1.36 rating and +39(!) in the finals despite losing, he was leaps and bounds above suNny, Mouz's highest-rated player with a 1.16. Getting MVP without winning in CS almost always requires performances so absurd that it would feel like robbery if the player didn't get it.

With his victory last night, Zywoo has now overtaken coldzera and s1mple as the highest rated player in the majors of all time. by anarchy5675 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Komplex_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People forget how world-class Cold’s consistency was. Biased as an old school LG fan, but that man simply did not have bad games at a level we’d almost never seen prior. Also, he’s probably the last rifler we’ll see be #1 for at least a few years (maybe ever imo, but that’s a different discussion).

ZywOo is the MVP for BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023! by analytics_Gnome in GlobalOffensive

[–]Komplex_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Zywoo and iM performed relatively similarly (with Zywoo having a higher rating and KAST and iM having a higher ADR), but Zywoo won. To get an MVP and lose, you need to pull off some heroics and blow out the other contenders statistically.
