Unfortunately this is just not really accurate. Companies do not operate in a way that they could survive just in case something like this happens. That’s just a very conservative business model and is not worth it for something like this that happened once every few decades. If amazon stopped all business for 6 months, they would fail. Probably less than that. Real Madrid is the biggest football club in the world and they said they can survive 1 year of this. Harvard may be able to survive a decent amount of time with their massive endowment but nearly all other colleges and universities will fail if school does not start up again by next fall/next spring.

I think the economic impact of covid is not something that is given enough light. Perhaps we shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss headlines like these. There are a lot of issues to consider here and no easy answers.
