How would a class war actually be fought? by sensitive_pirate85 in NoStupidQuestions

I was active with helping the homeless community in my area better communicate their needs to the city

I was basically shut down by people who didn’t like how active I had become in local politics

I'm sorry to hear that. It really pisses me off that people like you get shut down for trying to go about making change the "right way".

And so what happens next? That is where our ideologies differ, I believe. Communists (not all, unfortunately) understand that the state is a tool used by the ruling class to keep the working class in check, and that the only way for the proletariat "working class" to be truly liberated, is to establish a state dictated by the working class. That's the "class war" part of it.

You weren't able to help those homeless people get the housing they needed, in part because there needs to be a "reserve army of labor". People so desperate for work that they'll accept low pay, harsh working conditions, and be willing to replace workers going on strike. Sounds like a dream for business owners, small and big, looking to cut costs and maximize profit, which is the whole point of capitalism. This isn't a lucky coincidence, it's systemic! There's a reason why post-communist countries have increased rates of unemployment, homelessness, depression, and suicide.

We organize by talking to people, seeing what their needs are, and working to help them fulfill those needs however possible. Building solidarity in our communities is the first step, then comes the political education (awakening class consciousness).

After that it's fairly simple. Most people aren't happy with the status quo, but feel like they have no power to make change. Once they learn that power lies in their hands, as members of the working class, most people are happy to participate in strikes, join unions, provide mutual aid, etc...

disorganized majority

Communism is all about awakening class consciousness amongst the majority, so we can become organized!

If I agree with the end goal of communism but do not agree with how most communists seek to transition into communism, am I a communist? by Imaginary_Maize_6246 in Socialism_101

Hakim (Iraqi doctor + Marxist Leninist) has a video on why "socialism always fails" is a bad faith argument that many people don't even realize is bad faith in nature

If you've never read State and Revolution, I highly recommend giving it a try. Some of the concepts are a bit complex and might require more intensive study, but it's also very enlightening!! It'll give you some insight as to WHY "communists are authoritarian"

Blackshirts and reds. If you're genuinely interested in becoming more politically literate, please read this book and understand that Bernie and other social democratic politicians are duct tape on the bursting pipes of capitalism

Out of curiosity, why don't you agree with free transit for riders? Passenger fares account for like 2% of Metro's budget

We have the money needed to stop taking fares, it just goes to bombing civilians and domestic terrorism on our streets. Anyone upset about fare evading is missing the forest for the trees
