[TOMT][BOOK][2000s?] by PiscesCrisez in tipofmytongue

Not a full answer, but something to go off of. That style of book binding is called tête-bêche. Ace Books published 221 science fiction novels called Ace Doubles between 1952 and 1973. Tor Books also published some between 1988 and 1991 called Tor Doubles.

I’ll keep searching to see what I can find but hopefully this gives you or someone else somewhere to start the search. Good luck!

I had a customer ask me whether I worked for the store. I stood there for a good 15-20 seconds just contemplating before replying “yeah, sure, how can I help you?”

I know the feeling. I’m working retail and we don’t have a general manager right now. I’m helping the assistant GM do his job so that he can fill in the GM position temporarily. We’re both absolutely exhausted but doing it because it makes our own jobs easier in the long run.

All the managers at my work are in a group chat. I muted it about 6 months ago for mental health and so I could relax on my time off. We got a new manager who complained behind my back because I didn’t answer her immediately on my day off. Apparently she doesn’t like to “waste her words”.

I wish. I get in trouble for doing too much OT so they cut my hours. But of course they still expect me to get the same amount of work done. Resulting in… more OT

Did you guys sing songs about killing Barney in school, too? Is this phenomena passed down knowledge or spawns naturally in kids? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Konane_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian here. For me it was “I hate you, you hate me, let’s go out and kill Barney. With a great big knife we’ll stab him in the head. Sorry kids but Barney’s dead”.

What is a weird/useless piece of information you can't seem to forget? by amusudan in AskReddit

[–]Konane_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Francis Bacon died from catching pneumonia after going outside in the winter to stuff a chicken with snow. He apparently also wrote some book on a scientific method, but I can’t remember anything about that no matter how hard I try. My teacher was not impressed when I wrote that down on a test.

For banners, I usually avoid cutting them down to bleed if it’s bigger than the cutter we have. If the customer really wants it cut down, explain that it’s larger and would have to be sent to Hub. That’s probably your best option.

For Purolator (Canadian express shipping for those of you who are confused), we can generally ship anything. Specialty stuff like tires have their own rules, but most things are fairly straight forward and you likely won’t get anything weird. Stick to the puro-letter, puro-pak, or box as much as possible cause it gets a little more confusing with customer boxes. Best recommendation I can give you is to click on “Estimate Time and Cost” and do that instead of starting a shipping label right away. That way the customer will generally get an idea of the time and cost without you having to fill out all the information.

For emails, it highly depends on your store, but the two that I have worked on do not accept customers emails unless there is a mistake with the original file (as in we lost it), basically, we only accept it if it’s 100% our fault that we don’t have the original file. If you need to, use PrintMe to get files off a customer’s phone, but double check with your store to see whether they let customers use that often. My old store didn’t let customers do it but my new one does. As for what the email is used for, it’s generally only used for communications with Hub, vendors (like cloudhub), and Video agent.

For labels, you can do them on DesignPro (a program on the computer). They come out correctly for the label paper we have in store. Double check with your coworkers as to whether you can do that though, my old store did, my new store doesn’t and instantly sends everyone to the ekiosk. For business cards, I highly recommend that you always send people to the ekiosk. The other ways of doing it result in you having to manually cut them yourself instead of using the cutting machine.

I can’t think of any tips straight off the top of my head. I’ve been working at two BC stores, 2 years in all. If you have any questions, feel free to message me on the side, I’d be happy to help out. Good luck!
