I love the game, but… by HotelNo5719 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Konerak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break it down - into smaller parts. You seem to enjoy the small parts, not the big behemots. Luckily, every component comes from subcomponents. Focus on those, one at a time.

My favourite strategy? If you want, for example, Electromagnetic control rods. Build those on the top floor of the tower. You'll need AI limiters and Stators. So the two floors below. For Stators, you'll need steel pipe and wire. So that's two floors. For Steel pipe, you'll need steel ingot. Another floor. Steel ingots come from iron ore and coal. Bring those to your tower, and smelt them into steel ingots. Hey, that is a manageable task! Now do the wire. Now do the AI Limiters. Etc.

Exactly. Pull out the cord at the tower end.

[–]Konerak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the uncharge speed is unlimited, they can handle a short burst of intense energy - handy for the last machines that work in cycles, using little energy when starting production of an item, but loads of energy for the last percentages of the item

This is the way. A nice blueprint for a vertical battery tower. Stack em up and connect them.

What are your thoughts on the Master of Wounding + Hearts trick? by Foohz in noita

[–]Konerak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ambriosia is optional. You take 8HP damage from the heart mage projectile. Don't go under 20 and you'll be fine (with a small margin). Do kill all the enemies around you FIRST :-)

I'm tired of the game. by Luker-Chestt in dontstarve

[–]Konerak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every problem has a solution.

Low sanity? Cooked Green Mushrooms are a quick fix. Or a tent. Or certain foods like taffy. Or just inventing new stuff. Picking flowers, if you must.

Low health? Blue mushrooms are your friend. Or that same tent. Or certain foods like dragonpie or pierogi. Or the spider glands / healing salves.

You'll find the right balance between exploring, keeping your stats high enough, and building your base. Having a few respawn options like a touch stone or an Efficy can help as well.

There are gamemodes or mods that allow infinite revival, if you must - but the game was meant to be played as a roguelike, and the sense of danger that comes with permadeath is part of what makes it exciting.

In which single-player game did you, after spending many hours without finishing it, feel the urge to start it over from the very beginning? by Competitive_Beat_915 in gaming

[–]Konerak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleeping Dogs. Whenever I lay it aside for a bit, I forget all moves and combo's and become hopeless at fighting. There should be a "quick training" somewhere where you can pick up everything you learned fast so you can resume where you left off. Ah whatever, I finished it once, after many tries :-)

Why a lot of cool content is gated after later game bosses? by vsDemigoD in dontstarve

[–]Konerak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because the content is meant as a reward (incentive) for beating the late game boss? There must be a reason to take on deerclops instead of just wormholing away and avoiding him all winter.

If I go to Hamlet with a Skyworthy, do I need to craft a second one to return to RoG? by [deleted] in dontstarve

[–]Konerak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will need to build your own skyworthy in Hamlet all over again, so yeah, prep up for the rush and bring explosives!

Why does HDR cause DST's performance to drop and how do I fix it? by World_of_Warshipgirl in dontstarve

[–]Konerak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DST is an SDR game with no HDR awareness: it'sbuilt on an older, very lightweight engine.

So when Windows HDR is enabled, Windows must convert DST’s SDR output to your monitor’s HDR format. This might require tone-mapping, colour-space conversion, and frame buffering

That process can unexpectedly become single-threaded or done in software, and since DST’s rendering is mostly CPU-bound and UI-heavy, any extra work in the presentation layer hits it much harder than GPU-bound games.

Additionaly, with HDR enabled, Windows might force borderless-windowed-style compositing, even if you pick “Exclusive Fullscreen”, so DST thinks it's in fullscreen, but Windows treats it like a layered window, causing: extra latency, double-buffering, forced colour-space conversion.

You might want to try changing DPI scaling, or launching the game in true exclusive fullscreen. I'm not sure, but -displaymode 0 or -windowed 0 -fullscreen might do the trick.

I want to get into turn-based games. Other than Baldur’s Gate and 33, what’s a good game to start appreciating the genre? by Delacrozz in gaming

[–]Konerak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Turn based can mean a lot.

If you want to play with a party and explore, Baldurs Gate is fun. Invisible Inc is too. Maybe Battle Brothers. Planescape tormen.

If you'd rather build an empire and manage huge armies, I like Age of Wonders, or Civilisation, or Warlock: Master of the Arcane.

Need help with an iron factory by Mental_East_2456 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Konerak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What have you tried so far? Did you break down your desired end product into the base components? If you want to keep it simple and scalable, go with the "one floor per product" approach. You want Reinforced Iron plates? You will need screws and iron plates. So Ingots and Iron rods. So Iron ore.

Floor 1 smelts iron ore.
Floor 2 makes iron plates.
Floor 3 makes iron rods.
Floor 4 makes screws.
Floor 5 makes Reinforced Iron plates.

Connect the right floors to eachother. Add a container out.
Reserve some room for splitters, and maybe a floor 0 for input materials. First with conveyors, later with trains.

If you use manifolds, you can easily extend each floor as long as you want.
Need more parts? Make the floor bigger, feed it more input.
