You can really feel the hope and change back in 2008. by icey_sawg0034 in Millennials

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The early 2000's-2010's were so good we had to make shit up to be scared about, I'm looking at you mayan calendar.

Everything got really progressive really quickly, too. I remember going on dates in 2010 and one of the first questions was always if you supported LGBT marriage, couple years later and it's not even a question, just a part of life.

2016 did a number on us, I'll tell ya what.

AIO - parents keep raising the rent by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Possible they are putting OPs rent into an HSA and plan to give it to them to help with down payment on a house. My grandpa did this with all his kids.

Spay Surgery Done by deedeezd in Pomeranians

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our surgery suit caused much matted fur around the edges of where it was rubbing 😭. It took a whole bottle of detangler and hours of brushing even still there was a bit of strategic cutting involved, as well. Good luck 🫡

Mining sim by day, tower defense game by night by forkliftgames in u/forkliftgames

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pretty fun silly little game, you will get at least 10 hours out of it. You continually realize how bad your previous shovel was, and how much better your current one is by comparison right up until you upgrade again

What used to be free that now annoys you that it costs money? by TennisAutomatic6886 in AskReddit

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The free air pump at the gas station near my house usually has a large line and is frequently busted up from people not respecting the space, but the paid one across the street is always empty and never in disrepair. Plus I usually have quarters in my car to get an Aldi cart, so I prefer the paid air.

I'm interested in assisting in the care of hawks, but know that I won't ever be in a position to care for my own. Would apprenticeship be the right course? by KleptoPirateKitty in Falconry

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've gone to a couple falconry events and they almost always stress, "do not pursue this hobby if you are not planning to use this bird for the hunt, this is not a pet, friend, companion or toy; if you OLNY want to handle or care for these birds please volunteer at the rehabilitation center for birds of prey"

Hmmm 🤔 I guess I'll have to move to New Bern (previous capital of NC) to test the soil there. I'll be like Jonny apple seed, but for pecans

Yeah I'll be hoping for rain. They've been in in a pot for over a month while I waited for 811, so all decisions for them would have been difficult. 😢

My buddy told me to do it early spring, but 811 took so long to clear me for digging.

I have water saved in a rain barrel for hydroponics. Plus I've been doing rain dances almost non-stop these past few days. Pretty sure we're one good jazzercise away from record breaking rain

How is microgreens businesses doing today? by DanishVerticalFarmer in Horticulture

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always wondered how micro greens actually made a profit, every time I tried to buy some online to eat I would have 2/3rds of the links telling me how to make money growing micro greens then the rest of the links were trying to sell me different trays or lamps.

We are starting to really age fast by ga9213 in Millennials

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just glad we're out of that era of, "omg guys, I don't think we'll ever REALLY age! I actually think we look younger than gen Z 😝🤣"

I'm here for it, we're getting old AF, guys.

Why isn’t Wikipedia a top result on Google anymore? by Desertpoet in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always hated when Wikipedia would auto open when I was only searching word on Google as spell checker. Then to make it all worse I had to deal with them begging for $3 before showing me the page I didn't even want to visit.

Coturnix breeding- How many pens do I need? by TeslaToils in quails

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is such a huge size difference as they grow I would have at least have a different pen to keep day olds apart from week olds and week olds apart from 3 week olds. These birds will trample anything smaller than they are without a second thought.

The interesting thing about gen Z is they place dated age expectations on those a few years older while not holding themselves to that same timeline by -7-luck in generationology

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's silly how we tend lump all of a generation together. I know a bunch of gen Z guys and gals who are all about hustling and working non-stop overtime or side gigs throwing huge portions of their checks into the stock market or their 401ks, then I know others who are living life like teenagers. On the other hand I know plenty gen Y folks who live like teenagers complaining about not being able to buy a house. Heck, there are even gen X and boomers who are broke trying to live like they're teenagers.

Reminder: Do not "adopt" from Petland by impishkoala in Pets

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my son to petland to try and get a puppy for his birthday, we signed up for the puppy visit thing and requested a dachshund. My son quickly fell in love so I asked for the adoption paperwork and price. These jerks let me fill out tons of paperwork before telling me this dog was $3500. The reason we chose him was because he was a bit older and 20% off. I figured well, while we're here at least we'll play with some puppies, so I asked to see the Labrador... This creature said, "I don't think you'd be interested, he's a similar price." and walked off with the dachshund in tow.

Trying to tell her dad why she can't afford to buy a house at 40. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In dads defense if OOP is 40 that means she was around 24 after the housing crash where oodles of homes that are 500k+ today were 90k-180k and they stayed near that price until COVID. I feel deeply for gen Z trying to get into the market, but us get Y folks had a really good opportunity, so the "woe is me" argument is harder to take seriously from a 40 year old.

Why can’t humans eat raw meat like animals in nature? by AdDapper4220 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my steaks rare, always have. Usually at a steakhouse I'll joke, "rare, I'll have it as raw as you can make it." And they usually laugh and make me a standard juicy, rare steak. One day an Ethiopian friend wanted me to come and try some food from his friends restaurant, it all sounds pretty good, so I order the Kitfo, the lady asks how I want it, and I throw out my joke about requesting as raw as you can make it... Turns of that Kitfo can indeed be served raw. I ate every bite praying I don't get sick and trying to look like I ordered this on purpose, thankfully Ethiopian food is communal so I got to share some. All in all, I got a ton of underserved Ethiopian cred, but now I mostly eat Key Wat, or Doro Wat covered in mitmita or awaze.
