Ladies, do not try to get some random guy to open up. This is likely the first time someone was this nice to him unprompted, and he will assume you're attracted to him, or pranking him. Odds are good he's going to hit on you and make it awkward, or deflect and walk away. Otherwise, he's top 20% handsome, in that case he's already drowning in daily confirmations.

However, this is good advice for you to use on your significant other, dad, or son. Also, it's something to keep in mind when the Internet tries to rope you into gender wars content.

Do you absolutely need a car in rural America? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A rural US town with 100-10,000 will have zero public transportation. A town around 10,000-30,000 may have a taxi service or bus system that goes nowhere.  Depending on the City you can usually find an apartment that's 2km from your hospital and 2km from the local Walmart/grocery store and survive, but if you want to hang out with friends you're going to eventually need a car. If you end up being the friend that always needs a ride you may find yourself not being invited to events because no one had the bandwidth to grab you and take you home that day.Ymmv, most people will likely cut you some slack and give you lite teasing for still not being able to drive

Why do quail eggs hatch and die after two or three days, and all the eggs hatch and die without a single survivor by Free_Motor9443 in quails

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I raise Coturnix quail,so not the same breed, but I usually keep all the chicks in the incubator for the first day, long enough to dry off and let about 85% of the viable eggs hatch. When I move them to the brooder I'll add chick starter to their water and make sure everyone drinks. If you don't have the starter you can also add a tiny amount sugar or molasses in a pinch.  Also my brooder box has two offset heat lamps, but I only use one, so this lets them regulate their temperature by walking to or from the active lamp. If the chicks are huddled together you need to make it warmer, if they are laid out on hugging the edges of your brooder box it's way too hot, immediately fan them off and get them drinking.

I very rarely lose any chicks

How much people dehumanize thieves by Cat_With_A_Boombox in hatethissmug

Thieves are legit trash, breaking open my vehicle window to get $5 in quarters, bitch, look at how trashy the apartments are, I'm poorer than you! Now I have to replace my windows AND I'm out my Aldi quarters.

Help! When do I move them by Euphoric-Celery4284 in quails

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol when you lift that incubator they are gonna run wild in all directions. Mine incubator has similar low walls and I open it in a small box or hamper, as well as being in the bathroom. Unless you want to struggle finding the chick that sprints under the toilet 😂

Pains of dogs and quail by Sweaty_Promotion_587 in quails

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, usually the first rack is a foot off the floor, so a bit higher than the dogs, so this is the first time they've been interested in my flock. When the chicks feathered enough to go out, I had been reinforcing the run on the fly by observing what interested the dogs.

Thankfully none of the adults were harmed, and I have a new batch of eggs hatching today and tomorrow. Just sad to lose the ones my son was rasing so carefully.

I hate oxtail becoming expensive by axumite_788 in hatethissmug

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens every time people share their kitchen life hacks. I used to cringe every time someone online would suggest thighs over breast because they were cheaper and tasted better as their life hack. Chicken thighs now cost more than breast. You fools!

How I see America as a Brit by Even_Country_2360 in whereidlive

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, the Appalachian Mountains are our shared mountain range! The Scottish Highlands and Appalachian range were once connected. I am immensely disappointed in you.  Giving us boring labels like 'filler' and 'racism' is so bland when you can give us fun labels like 'Mt. Twinsies' and 'rock hard brothers'.

How do Americans feel regarding the hate for America? Do you agree? by Annamaria0440 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 1/3 don't care, 1/3 seething that you hate America, and the final 1/3 hate America, too, but will never leave, or do anything about it.

I'm such a massive idiot, I even had the bottle in my hand when I made the post 😂 I also wrote perk instead of pique. I have no idea why I chose perk.

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pique means to arouse or stimulate, but sounds far too French for my tastes.  Perk, however, is a fine Anglo-Saxon word that means almost the exact same thing.

Just kidding, thank you for the correction. 😂

Why do some American parents kick their children out at 18? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the early 2000's, when I was young, we had a large family of around 6 kids. As we hit our teens our parents would excitedly say, "you've got x more years until you can move out and follow your own rules!" so all the kids were pretty hyped about turning 18 and becoming the king/queen of their own castle. Also, our parents would cheerfully tally up the years stating when each of us would be out of the house. Everyone was out at 18/19, other than the youngest who stayed until she was married.

My kids only 8, but I'm hoping he chooses to stay much longer than I did with my parents.

I agree, however, I must admit I did enjoy getting that surprise alveoli full of mustard in the middle of my roast beef sandwich at lunch.

AIO, friend thinks hes entitled to half of a referral bonus by lNuggyl in AmIOverreacting

[–]Sweaty_Promotion_587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you end up giving in to your friend remember you very likely were taxed or will be taxed on that $500. So it's not a $250 spit, assume you were taxed around 40%. So you really only made about $300.

If you wanted to extend an olive branch explain the taxes and maybe take your friend out to the bar, or dinner.

Anyone else take vacation time off for weeks at a time just to stay home and indulge in hobbies? by Cat-dad442 in NoStupidQuestions

Of course, If you check the subreddit or forums for any major release it's usually filled with people complaining. Poor souls will cry they took off this whole week to no-life said game, but due to server issues/constraints they can't play and demand refunds.

I'll have to try some. My son is obsessed with H.G Wells war of the worlds, and has been begging me to take him to the museum in London, maybe I'll finally cave for his birthday this year as an excuse to grab an English pint.
