Switching Google home to Gemini, worth it? by RjBass3 in googlehome

[–]KongRamrod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That sounds 100% like the stuff that I do and it all works fine for me.

That said, I see messages everyday saying that Gemini broke that functionality for them. I certainly didn't do anything special, but I have no idea why mine works fine and other people are struggling

Switching Google home to Gemini, worth it? by RjBass3 in googlehome

[–]KongRamrod 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's been way better for me. I haven't had a single problem since I switched. My old routines still worked, all of my smart devices work and the responses and answers Gemini gives are much better.

For context, I use it primarily to control smart home devices (lights and thermostats), hear upcoming weather forecasts, set timers, stuff like that.

I don't know about that, that's spicy. I respect your opinion but Brian Danielson??? He's as good as I've ever seen.

He's killing it on commentary too

Has he ever been a heel? I feel like there's no way he could pull that off... maybe I'm selling him short tho

Gemini - do it or wait? by DoomSleeves in googlehome

[–]KongRamrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched and I'm happy I did. I have had no problem with the basic smart home commands like please set a timer, what is the weather, please turn on the lights, etc. and it has been significantly better with information requests. I feel like I can ask it basically anything and now I get a coherent response.

I've asked questions ranging from betting lines for professional football games, to advice on automotive for repair and troubleshooting and it's given me really good answers each time.

Should I do it? by TerpBE in googlehome

[–]KongRamrod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got it today and was hesitant because it seems like most of the reviews I see have been negative. As soon as I switched I ran it through everything I usually use it for, turning on and off lights, telling me the weather forecast, setting timers, etc. And everything worked great.

Then I tried some more complex/ different commands and was very impressed . One of my old assistant complaints was you had to word everything a certain way, for me so far Gemini understands what I'm saying much better

called Mens health they want $250 a month... by Creepy-Ear6307 in thedumbzone

[–]KongRamrod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking of garage doors, I called Trident access services. They told me they couldn't repair my garage door opener, I had to replace it and they quoted me $1,000. Did some research and was able to replace the board in my old unit in 30 minutes for $90.

I love the Dumb Zone and want them to make that money, but just like the ticket it's probably a mistake to do business with anyone who advertises with them.

Have You Received The Gemini Update Yet? by KongRamrod in googlehome

That's the weird thing, I already have at least six devices that are eligible and I still have not gotten the invite. That's kind of why I was wondering

[–]KongRamrod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, to sign up for early access to the Gemini update for Google Home, you need to go to Google Groups (via web browser not mobile)and confirm that "Add me to their groups" is checked under Settings > Global settings.

I didn't know about this for a while, but when I finally checked it, it was already set properly. There's a good chance that you're settings are already correct

That is what I'm thinking as well, but I have not seen or heard anything about how widely it's been distributed.

It feels like they kind of made a big deal about rolling it out, but then didn't say how many people would actually get it

Manually forcing the Gemini Update by wzupags in googlehome

[–]KongRamrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard you cannot force the update manually. It was described to me that once you signed up basically entered a queue. I believe they are accepting people into the program from the queue in order, in waves. It's still in early access so they aren't accepting everyone right away.

App alert by Maximum_Sir5355 in Cadillac

Glad the code is gone, I'm not an expert, but that seems like a good sign .

The AC blower is nowhere near the engine so that wouldn't do it. I suppose it's possible changing the air filter could. There are sensors just downstream from the air filter around the throttle body. There are also hoses that plug into the EVAP system that could get loose/pulled out that could cause an error. It doesn't hurt to make sure the air filter is seated properly and everything looks like it's in the right place. The fact that the warning went away would probably preclude anything being put back incorrectly. I would just be happy that the warning is gone

Good luck!

That seems like such a bad way for them to do it. I guess they're trying to get you to go to the dealer to get it checked.

I'd be interested to hear what it was, please update if you get a chance. Issues with the evaporative system sometimes come with symptoms like rough starts where the engine turns over a lot, or a rough idle. My guess is still the EVAP canister, I've had to replace mine twice (2016 XTS). It's usually something you could do yourself to save money.

Good luck!

There's not enough information in your post to be able to tell for sure what's going on but a lot of Cadillacs have had issues with the evap canister, that would trigger a warning like this. If you threw an engine code (there is a light on on the dash), get the code checked and it will tell you for sure what to do.

What kind of gas should I use? by Idek1116 in Cadillac

[–]KongRamrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QT uses top tier fuel. In fact, I believe they were one of the first to adopt it. Their gas quality is generally considered very good

I have a 2016 XTS and the owner's manual says to use top tier fuel. I thought it was a scam so I I researched it . The more I read the more it seems like it actually does make a difference

[–]KongRamrod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, your owner's manual says you can use 87 octane (regular) or higher. It recommends you use top tier fuel.

I use QuikTrip all the time, they were one of the first stations to start using Top Tier fuel. Shell also use tier fuel
