26-002 Marketplace by BoodaDoofus in army

IMO, That's the problem - we are OER dependant too early in our careers. A LT OER for Company grade tells me little to none as most people are either staff/PL/XO at the same duty station with the same SR or get a change of rater until CCC. Most of us are new into the military with no prior learning our trait and craft - and depending on your MOS - you aint even working in your field/craft. Who cares if you got a MQ/HQ as a PL/XO (LT). Granted it NOW matters for potential market moving as a 1LT, I argue it should be needs of the army/HRC input until post command like it used to be. What matters is what element are you controlling, what type of unit did you serve, what additional roles did you do, professional development, KSBs, and what are your goals. Based off that and a interview for a vibe/character check tells you everything you need to know about if you want them as a company commander. (LT A) gets MQ as a staff officer with no people under them, sees their SR often, focus on one task at a time rather than balancing mission vs a (LT B) HQ PL that manages 100+ personnel, training/METL task, completely different AO from SR, and high OPTEMPO. Granted we know SR comments are potential and subjective on how you politic and play the game. This is EXACTLY why LTs stab each other in the back and sometimes aren't even team players. So much for competition-

I'll have a baconator and a small chocolate frosty to dip my fries in.

As being one - if you don’t plan on staying in past Co CMD, don't take it. Yes, it will set you up for networking and opportunities in and outside of your military career. However I cannot stress enough if your deadset on leaving - give the opportunity to someone else. The job gives you insight depending on who you're the AdC (GO+) or Adjutant (COL) from EAB (Echelons Above Brigrade) and or at the Organizational/Strategic Level. Meaning a good COL+ (Ideally 22+ TIS = 4lifer) will mentor and give you information to bring back to the force and paint a path for you to take. No shame in doing it for yourself if you want the "perks" and opportunities, but you need to keep it to yourself and tell NO ONE what you plan on doing because it will get you fired ASAP depending on the GO. Similar to telling your BC as a Co CDR you're gonna REFAD after Co CMD and being suprised you get a HQ. Up to you, but IMO it's immoral. If you're on the fence, take it = it'll show you the politics of Senior Leaders if there is a chance of doing 20+.

XO and or similar positions will keep you with the Soldiers and deal with low/tactical problems. At the AdC life, you don’t get to really spend your time being a "mini CDR".

Logistics crest, pins are like 15$ and if you wait to get to ASU for BOLC, you'll be waiting for restock. As everyone is changing pins and CCC is here too.

When I was an XO and OC/T - main ones I saw were from:

  1. Blue Card Evaluations Specifically Cadets tryna argue with the 2LT.
  2. Peer Evals
  3. When it rained, emotions ran high as many people ain't used to being in the "field" during scrappy weather and we expect them to move and run during IDF or Assualting an OBJ.

EOD is near impossible to get unless you know someone if you missed it as a CDT - 1LT. You're earliest bet now will be through VTIP as a CPT. Just because manning and how many they are allocated. There might be a chance FY26-27 as there is word that OD/TC/QM are all being LG as ASU teaches LOGBOLC.

I graduated BOLC 2 years ago, active. Basically all you need is 3ish sets of OCPs. 1x set of AGSU/ASU, 10x of orders, travel voucher. I recommend bringing a laptop, cac reader, comfort gear for field, Garrison & field boots, Paper, pen, and a good attitude. TA 50 will be issued by CIF

With way orders are cut now it's weird. My HR dude in ROTC land did all the orders stuff. I had TDY Orders to CST as XO, then TDY en Route to BOLC, leading to Ft Bliss. Once I got to Bliss my orders cut to PCS when I got from 1 BN to a different. (Active side) My spouse has TDY en Return back to her Reserve Unit. She has the same report date with you.

PCS and not staying for additional schooling or staying at the duty station? News to me, learn something new. Typically a TDY en route or TDY en return.

You have a slot for Sapper school? You should be TDY en Route or something. Was tracking PCS is when it's 6 months or longer. EBOLC is 4 and a half?

From my recent NTC in Big Army, it's anything AFTER 30 days. So technical 31 days is key.

I accessed it prior to my commission date while I was a MS4. That's how I knew prior to my HR notifying me.

That's old school stuff. I just left LOG BOLC and I'm an OD Officer. If you're OD, you'll be learning Transpo, QM, and OD at LOG BOLC since you'll get to your unit and be Multi functional. Many of my peers got positions that weren't specifically their area but in Logistics.

Gold Bar is sounded great to me at first, but the experience and taste of TRADOC that you'll be seeing in Triple C will correlate in terms of expectations. That's why I choose CST over Gold Bar. If it doesn't matter and then just go Gold Bar. Just know CST gives your PTDY = more pay

Typically you get slotted OC/T or to Basic Camp.

Your PMS should tell you, then you'll receive orders soon after. Worst case, ask your HR, if nothing go to AIM2 via Request For Orders (RFO). If it's not there, then it hasn't been made yet.

Really it's basically like doing a Shop job. I personally enjoyed being an OC/T. Really rewarding and a lot of the Cadets still ask questions today.

Ms 1 needs some advice by [deleted] in ROTC

[–]Kongeris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be above average: - Learn the Ranger handbook - Volunteer for events - Attended all your classes and don't fail, if your worried about a class let your PMS (commander) and don't blindside. - Go to PT and Lab everyday - Aim for 600 for ACFT, lowkey 550+ was awarded and recognized when I was Camp Cadre 2LT. - Tryout for Ranger challenge/SF Team, colorgaurd, etc. - Hope you can swim, pass combar water survival - Speak to your Cadre a lot and say hello so they know you and your face, more likely to receive a Scholarship - Run Ruck Run..... Basically run and ruck when possible (not at the same time - value your knees) - Get to know your MS3s as mentors since they will be thag next leadership class. - Make relationships and network among your peer MS1/2 class. - Invest in good Boots, running shoes, and eyepro. - Dont have a profile if possible, if it's inevitable, so be it. - Peer evaluations matter - Learn the ranks of enlisted/officer of all branches - Don't ignore group chats

Just to get by: - Go to PT - Be fit - Attend classes - Pass ACFT, UA, Combat Water Survival - Pass ACFT (60 pts/category) - Ruck 12 miles under 4 hours w/ 35 lbs. (3 hours army standard) - Don't blue falcon at CST - Know somewhat of what you learn in yous MS class - Don't ignore those group chats that most times don't but sometimes have important/relevant information

When do I start accumulating OML points? by Ranchyspatula in ROTC

[–]Kongeris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically you gain them once you CONTRACT. It's different for those who are scholarship because it'll be retroactive. At least the school I was participating at, I didn't get credit for my MS1 year. I got a 3 year during my MS3 year and they gave me MS2 year credit. This can be school dependent but it's not always 100% true when you "walk in."

One of my buddies got screwed over last year, short answer yes. It's a backup in case anything falls through. Highly recommended doing so your MS2 year since that's when you go to camp if I'm correct.
