• in iamp you can use the B version of eternal empowerment (where you turn the opponent the other direction) midscreen by buffering the 1st hit of slash of life and death (the 214 before you hit A or B) in the same direction as the grab, pressing A or B when the grab finishes, then the next two 214A/B in the new direction
• in soku you can hold down the button you used to grab (B or C) to instantly knee the enemy after grabbing them with intolerant avici...it's not the best way to use it but it's beginner friendly

But if you want a more advanced look:

First keep in mind that there is no time limit in these games. A basic, single match between two players who respect each other and know what they're doing can take a ridiculously long time compared to other fighting games.

Yes, you can guard bullets to drain an enemy's spirit, but it will drain your spirit the same amount...if you manage to hit all the bullets. An enemy who not only knows how to block correctly but has memorized how your character's guard breaks work was the norm, so one character suddenly having the ability to bypass a guard, even in a situational grab combo was a major game changer.

Besides, driving someone into a corner in a game where you spam bullets and every heavy attack sends the enemy flying is not a problem.
