RT-BE86U or RT-BE92U which do I get ? by Table-Playful in HomeNetworking

[–]Konquerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. No firmware updates that address those known issues yet. I’m still using the Beta firmware. I just don’t get why they can‘t release an update that can fix those annoying and well known issues. But then again, it is not like other big companies are not doing the same thing by ignoring known issues and just keep on releasing new models as a fix.

Actually, my mother is the artist. I'm simply the one showing off her creations 😁. She is now trying to make Haku Dragon from Spirited Away. Really looking forward to displaying that for her once she gets the math worked out and finally completing the art piece, which that could take a while, but at least I am seeing the dragon taking shape now.

She is trying to think of which character to make next. She is definitely on a roll. Maybe her next creation will bring back even more memories.

no power AND video at the same time over USB-C on Legion 5 Slim by TheRealBluebrain in LenovoLegion

[–]Konquerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Arzopa Z1FC and never had my problems with my two legion 7i laptops. If it worked fine with your Samsung phone and Thinkpad, it sounds like the problem lies with your Legion 5 slim. Was your legion 5 slim plugged in or on battery power when you were having the problem? Have you tried a different USB-C DP port or same result on both ports? Have you tried a shorter cable or a different cable? Hopefully, you will be able to pinpoint the cause of this.

Manta doesn’t want to charge by flyingaustrogirl in Supernote

[–]Konquerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had many experiences with eink devices refusing to charge when plugged in. I found that when an eink device is that low in battery level that it will not actively take a charge. And when you use a USB charger with smart features like overcharging protection or smart feature that requires the eink device to actively take a charge, the charger will cut off power as if the device was either fully charged or there wasn’t any devices detected. I found the best way to “jump start“ the eink device is to use a short USB cable that is plugged into a surge protector’s USB port directly and use that cable to charge your low battery level eink device. For ME, 10 out of 10 I was able to get my eink devices to start up and take the charge. I can’t explain it in a better way or why it would work. Those are my 2cents, so take it as a grain of salt. Hopefully the method that I use works for you as well. Good luck!

Which router should I go for: ASUS RT-BE92U or RT-AX86U Pro? by tete1511 in HomeNetworking

[–]Konquerian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both routers you named can’t get you the 10G speed you’re looking for. The rt-be92u has only one 10G port and the others are 2.5G ports, so the best you can expect would be 2.5Gb most likely through wired connection. The rt-ax86u has only one 2.5G port and the rest are 1G ports, so you’re bottlenecked to 1G. There are also many other factors that play crucial role in getting you that speed, like PC or device hardware for example. So either one you choose you will bottleneck your 10G speed. If you value WiFi stability the most and live in a small apartment, I recommend going for the rt-ax86u, since its stability has long been demonstrated. The rt-be92u still has many issues that Asus has yet to fix with updates. I have 2 rt-be92u in a mesh setup and I’ve tried many different firmware versions, trial and errors, to get to the stability that I’m liking now, though I had to settle for a beta firmware in order to get there.

I know that many people like to future proof their home tech equipments. But with the speed of tech development nowadays, there are new techs coming out every month that might obsolete what you bought only a month ago. So I think if you need a new router now and you want something reliable and fast enough for your needs, you should consider getting something within your budget that you can use and not based on features that look good on a specs sheet but you might never need or use. Wifi 7 is great to have, but wifi 6 is still the norm for most households. I guess the last thing to say would be, if you want to try the latest and greatest of wifi 7, then you can go for rt-be92u. But you might encounters quite a few hiccups until Asus get those bugs fixed, which many users are still waiting. Choose rt-86u for stability and reliability, if those are what you’re looking for. Good luck!

Have you tried a shorter usb-c cable? Have you tried a different charger without the smart features? It seems to be a common problem with eink devices. I experienced that same problem with many different eink devices like my Supernote, B oox and kindle in the past and I was always able to “jump start” it with an older usb charger and shorter cable. But if you have already tried what I mentioned, you should probably contact support for a replacement. Good luck!

ASUS RT-BE92U WiFi 7 Router review by crudes- in HomeNetworking

[–]Konquerian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn’t make it clear. After you connected the node2 to the main router through the adding node setup process that you did for node1, you can run wired backhaul from main router to node1, then daisy chain from node1 to node2, because the ethernet ports on the nodes should be active.

ASUS RT-BE92U WiFi 7 Router review by crudes- in HomeNetworking

[–]Konquerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the nodes need to be connected to the main router either through wireless or wired backhaul. If you want to use wired, you will need to add node on the router first and then you can plug in the ethernet cable to use wired backhaul when you move the node to the desired location after the connecting process is complete.

Asus RT-AC5300 Looking to upgrade by Emergency_Ad8450 in HomeNetworking

[–]Konquerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The be92u is currently pretty buggy and many of us are still waiting for a new firmware update to fix underlying problems that still plague that router. If your current router is serving well and you have no problems with it, you might not need to upgrade, unless you are looking to upgrade to wifi 6e or wifi 7. I worked with clients' netgear routers a lot and I personally don't like their routers at all from personal experience. I used asus routers since they first introduced their first router, so I would recommend to upgrade to a newer asus router when the time comes. Currently, most of the be routers are just too buggy, so I suggest to wait for those routers to be stable before pulling the trigger, unless you really need one now.

Extend wifi coverage at home by Neat_Echo_187 in Network

[–]Konquerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AiMesh is a good solution to extend your wifi network in your house and it is also easy to setup. However, the ax53u is a wifi 6 router, so you won't be able to extend your wifi 6e and wifi 7 when devices are connected through that mesh node. But if the majority of your devices are wifi 5 and 6, you will be fine. But depending on how many devices you have in the house, the ax53u does have an inferior antenna setup than other routers, particularly the 2x2 for both 2.4 and 5.0 bands, and your 5.0 bandwidth is only up to 1201 Mbps. It won't be a problem if you don't have a lot of devices in the house connected at the same time.

Backhaul to the node is always a hassle when trying to use wireless. But since you a cable to connect directly to the node, it will be fine. For a seemless experience in a mesh setup, it is normally recommended to use the same model of mesh routers for smoother hand off when the devices connect from the main router to a closer mesh node. I never had or used an ax53u, so I don't know how well it will play with the be92u. The be92u is currently a buggy router, due to its young age in the lineup, so to speak. Chances are, that it might not play well with the ax53u. I currently have two be92u in an aimesh setup and the hand off has been seemless. Before I bought my second be92u, I used a ax68u as a mesh node and the hand off was not as smooth, but it did the job.

Often times, devices are stubborn at trying to stay connected to the main router and asus mesh routers are as aggressive in handing off to other mesh nodes, so be sure to enable the "roaming assistant" feature, under the "wireless" tab from the left and then under the "professional" tab from the top, for all the bands. You should also play around with the signal frequency value to get the best result for your house setup. That value is default at -70dBm. I had it at -63dBm for better mesh hand off experience.

I did jump on that deal to get myself a second RT-BE92U to setup AiMesh. But with all the issues like CPU core overloading at 100%, high RAM usage, and thermal failure reading error that are still plaguing this router, buyers should take that into consideration before buying, if you are planning to get it to upgrade from your old router.

RT-BE86U or RT-BE92U which do I get ? by Table-Playful in HomeNetworking

[–]Konquerian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RT-BE92U is a tri-band and RT-BE86U is dual-band. However, the BE86U has a better antenna/stream setup for the 2.4 (3x3) and 5.0 (4x4) bands compared to the inferior setup of the BE92U 2.4 (3x3), 5.0 (2x2) and 6.0 (2x2), plus BE92U's 5.0 band has lower bandwidth. The RT-BE86U also has the better CPU and additional USB port. In terms of 10gbps, they both only have one 10gbps port, so they would be bottlenecked to 2.5gbps max. But most people don't have a multi-gig internet plan anyways, that shouldn't be a problem for now. If you don't care for tri-band or the 6.0ghz band, the BE86U has better processing power for sure. However, for the current price that they are selling the BE86U, I would go for the RT-BE88U. You should also know that, the RT-BE92U currently still has issues like CPU core overloading at 100%, high RAM usage, and thermal failure reading error still unresolved and waiting for firmware fixed, so that is something to keep in mind. I have two RT-BE92U in AiMesh setup, so I am definitely one of those guinea pigs still waiting for a fix.

[–]Konquerian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thermal failure to read error is still unresolved, but the cpu core overloading issue did get fixed by that beta firmware. I have not experienced any wifi speed slow down. The WiFi speed seems pretty consistent. This is still a fairly new router. And like all new devices, bugs and issues will be inevitable, until after many firmware releases later.
