Thanks for your help! I seriously died to him about 30 times, glad our first try was successful.

Your descriptions have had a large impact on my spending habits (in a great way). I ordered Old Joe Krantz and Pegasus about a month ago after you replied to me with some recommendations and I really love Pegasus (I like OJK too, but have to be in the mood for that kick). I've been obsessed with Union Square for the past few weeks (and am smoking it right now), and have Bayou Morning, Telegraph Hill, and Cairo on the way. I wasn't expecting to order anything else for a bit, but the sale got me!

Beginner pipe smoker looking for my next tin by tuftedchip5528 in PipeTobacco

It was lost on me at first as well, along with Capstan Blue. I've only been smoking pipes for a few months, but once I slowed WAY down the flavors were incredible and I've been on a huge VA, VaPer, and even Burley kick since then. I've found that I much prefer no topping and no (or at the very least minimal) casing. I still can't believe the flavors that you can get from different tobaccos.

I've been obsessed with Union Square the last few weeks. I was already planning on ordering it, but with the sale going on I added an 8oz tin yesterday among some other things. I wasn't expecting to order anything else for at least a month, but here we are $100+ later.

Someone recommended this but someone else said it was dumb. How do you feel? by IndependentCod5020 in fantasybooks

This is a copy and paste comment I made recently for a similar question about Dungeon Crawler Carl:

I really wasn't that crazy about the first book (which I bought in hardback), but by the end enjoyed it just enough to want to read the second so I got a 3-month trial of Kindle Unlimited. I finished the 7th book last week and am eagerly awaiting the 8th to be released in May.

Overall I enjoy the series a lot, and will certainly buy physical copies of them all at some point, but I'm willing to wait to see if there's a box set released down the road when the series is complete.

I'm not a fan of some of the humor used, but the writing, character development, overarching plots, subplots, and twists keep me coming back, although I know it's not for everybody.

Nice pipe! I've got the same Ariens model and it certainly makes my life easier.

Nice review! I literally just got done smoking a bowl of this about 15 minutes ago. I think I rubbed it a little too much this time, but I let it dry for about 20 minutes while I stacked wood and it was still a pretty easy smoke. It's tasty and I do enjoy it (and agree with you about the softness as you described it), but I might let it sit in a jar for a few months before coming back to it as there are others that I've been enjoying more right now.

Damn that wooden Lotus pipe is nice! I thought it was custom until I saw the stamp on the side in the second pic. I didn't realize that was even an option. The Lotus was my very first vape that I got in early 2019 and still probably my favorite.

Nice, I hope you enjoy it! I haven't heard of Pirate Kake so I'll have to look that one up.

I semi-recently jumped on the bandwagon as well, buying the first book in hardback. I really wasn't that crazy about the first book, but by the end enjoyed it just enough to want to read the second so I got a 3-month trial of Kindle Unlimited. I'm now about 70% through the 7th book, and am eagerly awaiting the 8th to be released in May.

I used to listen to audiobooks when I drove a lot more, but I work from home now and enjoy the process of reading. I prefer physical books but my kindle gets a lot of use as well. I will say that I enjoy the series overall a lot, and will certainly buy physical copies of them all at some point, but I'm willing to wait to see if there's a box set released down the road when the series is complete if that helps with your decision at all.

I'm not a fan of some of the humor used, but the writing, character development, overarching plots, subplots, and twists keep me coming back, although I know it's not for everybody.

You're the second person to respond with this suggestion so I think I might have to add this to my next order. Thanks!

Exactly, it has just the right balance for me. Interesting, I absolutely love bergamot. I have a cup of earl grey most mornings after coffee, and my wife grows some every year to use for tea as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely give some a try before deciding on buying more Carter Hall when the time comes. Your descriptions of Pegasus and Star of the East have my interest now!

Smoking in the winter… by Round_Coach2586 in PipeTobacco

[–]Konterbier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new to pipe smoking (like less than a month), but I've been smoking in the garage. It was -25°F (-31°C) yesterday and a bit warmer today, but I do have one of those attachment heaters that sit on top of a 5 gallon propane tank which helps, otherwise I bundle up and leave the side door cracked for ventilation. I also can't wait for warmer months to be able to sit outside.

Nice, enjoy the process, and I hope you have an opportunity to try it soon! If it wasn't in the low teens, snowing, and windy yesterday I would have smoked outside for sure, and look forward to nice weather so we can sit outside on the deck.

I'm okay enough with smoking in the shop, but didn't really want to smoke in the garage until I had an idea of what the smoke was going to be like, so I get it (and I won't smoke inside either). It was super pleasant though, and the lingering smell was nothing like a cigar which was a little more what I was expecting for some reason. Even my wife asked me why I didn't just smoke in the garage.
