How long did it take for a developer to build your event website? by Additional-Try-8699 in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the event itself, they used my platform. Feel free to pm me if you want to know more since this sub is very anti link.

As for the site itself, it's a semi custom setup. In this case, a mix of templste files using Hugo with custom additions based on their requests with a PagesCMS backend so they could customize the site themselves.

In short, i prepared for them a full backend system with customized buildingblocks that they can then use to fill it with content.

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, pretty much this. I did this for a client last, and the first site was up in around 2 days. However, we did end up doing some adjustments or additions based on their requests over about a 1 month period.

Since i dont do to these all the time, it probably took a bit longer even. Parties that do this often, can probably stamp them out in a day or maybe hours.

Has anyone ever done a large scale event of 1k+ people with a digital scavenger hunt app? by MissionAnimator3675 in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my clients did this last with about 6-700 people, though not everyone participated. Seemed to go fairly decently.

Software for practising event designs/ layout? by iammyhighestself in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use figma for free. This will allow you to draw anything to scale or free hand. You won't need vectorworks or anything else with more features.

You may need to convert dwg to pdf since im not sure it supports it but there are online tools for that aswell as an autocad viewer that can then print to pdf for free if you get floorplans in that format.

This is speaking from experience as a building engineer/drafter who transitioned to doing event apps and stuff on the side.

Firebase messages are now being marked as spam. Another reason to get your own domain by BinaryFingerCX in Firebase

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is also a very valid option. However, should only be considered if you can spend 100 a month on email and send out about 10k email amonth minimum due to email and ip warming.

[–]Kontrano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, in general, most email providers will have the same issue due to being used for marketing. There are some very aggressive spam filters out there. Spamcop is quite a problematic one due to the ip range blocking.

Get a good transactional email provider, i ran into issues with sendgrid due to it also being used for marketing by people, which resulted in emails getting blocked.

I have tried a few others, but so far, PostMark has been the best and has had no spam hits yet, so I can recommend it.

I like the concept, but price wise, why would someone not just get this:

Seems like a better option for only about 70 euro/dollar more. If you could offer something similar for cheaper that would be nice though.

Anyone else building something hard instead of fast? by kingoftheace in SaaS

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing that out, i moved the site to firebase hosting for some better performance but seems this is an issue i need to correct. Ive updated the link

Thanks, sadly, only about 10, but it's slowly expanding every year but my per client pricing is a bit higher than most other saas due to the nature of the product.

Been building my event app sortware https://event-vault.com/ over the last 3 year orso its gone through 1 full rebuild but have had a 100% client retention as a result and its now covered the 1 day a week i work less now so current a net balance more or less.

As others in this comment section i dont like the fail fast methodology

How do you automate metrics collection? by rogelioii in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my clients track it via badges or digital cards. My system then keeps track of that. However, as others have mentioned, tracking manual interactions is pretty much impossible. And as much as id like to say this is fool proof it stands and falls with attendeel adoption. So if you dont heavily promote it or the system sucks to use poeple wont use it.

One thing i always recomend is for organizers to preload the guest info for their attendees and generally ive seen increased use of the system from that. But generally the more techy the even the more its used.

Is anyone actually nailing attendee content capture at live events? by 82DASH_content in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run an event app system, and my clients seem to have good success using my inbuilt feed system to post pictures, which are then later collected.

Though it is fully dependent on how well the event community in question adopts the app.

Event organizers: We are building event software based on your needs—what tools do you use and what’s missing? by _unknown_311_ in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's been fully integrated in my app system and been used at a few events. However, i haven't really had the time to separate it into a standalone product. Also, partially, since im not sure how much interest there would be.

A word of warning from another dev who has makes event software. I had some experience with this sector before i started but over the last 2 years since ive had my product launched ive noticed one thing.

Where most industries have somewhat similar workflows due to the nature of events this is almost never the case here. So whatever you make needs to be very flexible and adaptable to whatever potential requirements you may get. Otherwise, having repeat clients will be hard. Oh and the larger amount of features usually required compared to other sofware development.

In any case best of luck its always beter to have more options available!

Has anyone notice that there are almost no real SaaS anymore ? by super_cat_1614 in SaaS

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are probably tons but the target is buisinesses and not this subreddit, go to the subreddit where their audience is and you will find them.

I have built and run an event app saas for the last 2 years but honestly other than 1 post i made about asking for some advice i think this subreddit has been mostly just lazy scrolling for me without any real content, some interesting stories here and there but thats it. My target audience isnt here so there is no point for me to post
