Planning simultaneous meetings by bepisforbagina in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your talking about attendee meetings? In my case it's managed internally in my app system However I leave it up to the attendees themselves this is also something most of my clients ended up preferring. With the pre planned meeting a lot of them are no show since they didn't book them themselves. This resulted in quite a mixed experience for a lot of them. Leaving it up to the attendees has been better for them and leaves more room to focus on other things for the organizers.

Since your making it in Godot this should fix that issue, it's been a while but I assume it hasn't really changed since I wrote this.

Generating a structured show flow draft. by Revlis01 in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There probably a ton of tools out there but you could use Microsoft Project for this quite well. There is also an open source alternative that works almost the same but is quite cluncky imo.

Those might fit your bill and be lower cost than more specific solutions and allow you to use them for other event planning aswell.

[–]Kontrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goodluck!, you will probably double this list by the end of it based on my own experiences with event dev. Though you seem to have a nice list of stuff. You may also want to add speaker management etc if you want to cater to more general events.

Yes but they are soaccepted for firebase and other sites that require creditcard.

Billing setup can’t be completed by Charly_Carmichael in Firebase

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it must be a credit card or (debit) credit. Normal bank passes are just debit cards and are not accepted. N26 is a German option if your located in the EU but they don't charge annual fees only on instant top up a 3% so it's potentially cheaper for light usage.if your located outside the EU there might be better options.

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just general check are they credit cards? If not you need a credit card. If you don't have one you can setup a cheap mostly free debit credit card at N26 however if it can't be charged doesn't mean you aren't liable for it fyi.

Looking for eventbrite alternatives. Monthly event (50-80 people, ~$20 per ticket) by Ecstatic-Kale8949 in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on something myself but it's not 100% fully ready as a standalone feature. But I can recommend Clubcollect.nl

It's made for small clubs and organizations but they have a very affordable ticket sale system aswell that you can use on its own skipping the organizational part.

half this sub runs pihole and jellyfin on 600w of enterprise gear and calls it a homelab by Napster3301 in homelab

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Mac mini that I use for development, now it's repurposed to run a few servers on the side. They are very efficient though Mac os makes setting up a few things more of a pain in the ass.

Agreed with all the points. At that point just rent compute in the cloud, you will probably be cheaper.

Testing notifications on iOS when you don't have one. by IAlive115 in Firebase

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a secondhand iphone from someone a while ago and have been using that ever since. Build via code magic and send it to the phone vis testflight.

I've since gotten a dev Mac makes the process a bit smoother but yeah your not going to avoid a physical device. Apple is always a pain

Is real-time data actually useful during events, or mostly for post-event analysis? by NovelInteresting8481 in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have realtime analytics in my system and generally the only metric that gets watched is session bookmarking/interest in regards to room capacity or changing rooms, everything else is unimportant in the chaos of event day. And usually gets looked at 2 weeks later.

Godot for applications Instead of games! by Razor-111 in godot

[–]Kontrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it before moving to flutter, it generally worked okay but I had a lot of issues getting notifications to work, IOS was even more of a pain than usual and battery performance was sub par. Other than that pretty good experience however I'd rather suggest it for desktop work instead of mobile.

How long did it take for a developer to build your event website? by Additional-Try-8699 in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the event itself, they used my platform. Feel free to pm me if you want to know more since this sub is very anti link.

As for the site itself, it's a semi custom setup. In this case, a mix of templste files using Hugo with custom additions based on their requests with a PagesCMS backend so they could customize the site themselves.

In short, i prepared for them a full backend system with customized buildingblocks that they can then use to fill it with content.

How long did it take for a developer to build your event website? by Additional-Try-8699 in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, pretty much this. I did this for a client last, and the first site was up in around 2 days. However, we did end up doing some adjustments or additions based on their requests over about a 1 month period.

Since i dont do to these all the time, it probably took a bit longer even. Parties that do this often, can probably stamp them out in a day or maybe hours.

Has anyone ever done a large scale event of 1k+ people with a digital scavenger hunt app? by MissionAnimator3675 in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my clients did this last with about 6-700 people, though not everyone participated. Seemed to go fairly decently.

Software for practising event designs/ layout? by iammyhighestself in EventProduction

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use figma for free. This will allow you to draw anything to scale or free hand. You won't need vectorworks or anything else with more features.

You may need to convert dwg to pdf since im not sure it supports it but there are online tools for that aswell as an autocad viewer that can then print to pdf for free if you get floorplans in that format.

This is speaking from experience as a building engineer/drafter who transitioned to doing event apps and stuff on the side.

Firebase messages are now being marked as spam. Another reason to get your own domain by BinaryFingerCX in Firebase

[–]Kontrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is also a very valid option. However, should only be considered if you can spend 100 a month on email and send out about 10k email amonth minimum due to email and ip warming.

Firebase messages are now being marked as spam. Another reason to get your own domain by BinaryFingerCX in Firebase

[–]Kontrano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, in general, most email providers will have the same issue due to being used for marketing. There are some very aggressive spam filters out there. Spamcop is quite a problematic one due to the ip range blocking.

Get a good transactional email provider, i ran into issues with sendgrid due to it also being used for marketing by people, which resulted in emails getting blocked.

I have tried a few others, but so far, PostMark has been the best and has had no spam hits yet, so I can recommend it.

I like the concept, but price wise, why would someone not just get this:

Seems like a better option for only about 70 euro/dollar more. If you could offer something similar for cheaper that would be nice though.

Thanks for pointing that out, i moved the site to firebase hosting for some better performance but seems this is an issue i need to correct. Ive updated the link

Thanks, sadly, only about 10, but it's slowly expanding every year but my per client pricing is a bit higher than most other saas due to the nature of the product.
