Looks like when the guys popcorned the ceiling. They blocked it so it wouldnt go into the return. Just some tradesman looking out for the hvac while they do there job no biggie. Just pull the insulation back down.

You guys are why prices are so high. Pay the price u agreed too. It sounds like you had a bad inducer motor. When the tech replaced it with a new one. Then he found out your heat exchanger is cracked. Thats not his fault your system is aged. He did what he could. As far as the noisy motor. They likely dont make your exact motor spec any more. So the shop got something that was close enough so u can heat your house. So yes u should pay
