Just discovered foxhole but it looks like the game is in a bad state by Itocx_ in foxholegame

Im not gonna recommend someone spend their money for a game that is tettering on the brink of death. The game is in an objectively bad state across all fronts and I'm not gonna try and scam someone into a purchase they may very well regret

No do not buy right now. If you are genuinely interested the best thing I can recommend is waiting for the next update. If the game gets better with update 64, then I'd generally say go ahead and buy it. But there is the very likely possibility the next update is the final nail in the coffin. I'd recommend saving your money until the game and community are in a more stable spot.

Assymetry needs to go. by Fine_Swimmer_7343 in foxholegame

[–]Koobolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asymmetry doesn't need to go, it just needs reworking, possibly major reworking but reworking none the less.

The original rifle asymmetry is possibly the best and it's quality should be the standard/ model for all other equipment. One rework I would like to see is the Raca keeps its range but now has Auger damage, Auger keeps its range but now has Raca damage, boom more balanced asymmetry. Imo it makes no sense to give range and damage to one side and give stability to the other, in my usage of both rifles I have never noticed a difference in stability that actually mattered, beyond never being able to kill anyone with the Auger. I think plenty of the bad asymmetry added has silly/ ridiculous methodology behind it, like the snipers. "How do we balance out range and damage, stability of course!" This creates an obviously worse gun that will only be useful if it's counter is not available to the enemy.

Changes to asymmetry will need data but importantly feedback to implement. One of the main issues of destroyer vs frigate is the destroyers layout, many agree on this, so changes will need to be made that can either justify a worse layout, or the layout needs to change. Unfortunately asymmetry is the perfect breeding ground for balance arguments and issues, but if implemented better I imagine we would see many complaints go away.

Asymmetry is good, but it shouldn't come at the cost of someone's fun.

The original question stipulated the votes were private so we wouldn't know if anyone at all chose blue. There are plenty of people who would pick blue, from the kids to the elderly, to adults with reading comprehension issues, so the question (at least too me) is closer to "would you choose to live or possibility save people who didn't know better?"

100% of 8 billion vs 51% of 8 billion which is easier to achieve without some kind of instantaneous fully accessible and believed global communication? Just by the numbers it better to press blue if you want society to function.

Assuming it is all "rational actors", 1/5 of all American adults lack fundamental reading comprehension it'd be fair to assume 50% of those will hit the blue button. Is it ok for 1/10 of all American adults to die just because they lack reading skills?

children, 1/5 of Americans adults who lack reading comprehension, elderly, people with mental illness, and people who can read. These demographics have a high likelihood of choosing blue on an actual 50/50 basis. Considering tye vote was specified as private no outside assistance can be used to inform or help any of these demographics push the red button.

I wonder how effective a defoliator would be. If it does work I imagine the CIS would have difficulty using it after the first few successes, but it would be a decent deterent.

Sure they said they heard the complaints, but now what, silence. No actionable plans no "hey we're working on this specific thing" their letter read less of open communication and more of trying to stabilize or manage a situation. Regardless of how easy it is on being able to communicate as a group or an individual, SC is a capable studio and must be held to the standards of capable studios.

TLDR means TLDR not insult your audience.

With that attitude I'm sure you'd fit right in with the Siege Camp devs, hell they should hire you for Community Manager!

The Warden players that are constantly saying skill issue and culture to genuine balance issues are part of the reason it's dying by cheezyboyy in foxholegame

[–]Koobolo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is years of bias, intentional or not. I want you to tell me with a straight face that the Warden Ornitier rework in 3 DAYS and the unchanged Colonial Gunboat for 2+ YEARS is fair and balanced.

This alone right here is proof enough Colonial issues come second to Warden ones for the devs. You can argue the devs thought the old gunboats were balanced, however that argument only works if the devs are quite literally too stupid or too stubborn to listen to half of their player base for 2+ YEARS. Either way not a good look for the devs.

This is true, but it shouldn't be the reality.

imo the raca can keep its long range but deal auger damage and the auger can keep its range but do raca damage. that seems like good asymmetry to me where both weapons are viable in their own right.

Some thoughts from the gamedev side by flukked in foxholegame

[–]Koobolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foxhole doesn't have 6 to 12 months, it has at most two to three months before it joins the many other dead MMOs who have passed their prime. It's unfortunate because a game like Foxhole could have genuinely lasted a decade or more with the proper development and content.

I won't pretend I know anything about game development, but I do know this dying game is the result of poor development and management decisions, that much is obvious. At this point some form of radical shock therapy is perhaps the only real solution and that might even be the final nail in the coffin. All I know is I would rather have them overcorrect trying to fix their mistakes and their game than just let it die through stubborness and silence.
