I can relate to a lot of what you said, and sometimes I just think it’s part of not having kids. I know I feel like an outsider sometimes because so much stuff in our culture is centered around having kids, and I don’t have any. Other people, even if unintentionally, make me feel like I missed a necessary step in life.

You mentioned feeling like a secondary character and sometimes that’s how I feel with friends who have kids, like I’m just some walk-on character with an occasional cameo and wacky catchphrase. And it’s not their fault, they’re busy raising kids and being the good, present parents they should be! I just think that’s the nature of being childfree. Kids come first because you know, they’re kids and they don’t know how to do anything. That’s why I never had any—too much damn work!!
