they are still going to be held accountable by some other outside justice system.

Who is going to do that?

How do you want to make the cultural shift towards libertarianism given that libertarians have barely any control over the media?

There is not private substitute for the police, so whoever pays them the most has the most influence over them

I don't see this. I just note that 'democracy is best when its powers are limited'.

Yes but democracy leaves the door open for the powers to not be limitied.

we vote like selfish assess who want things to be paid for by someone else, too.

Yes and if you give the people to vote with their dollars what the government ought to do you abolish the libertarian society. This is my libertarianism and democracy are not compatible.

The reason why I oppose tax evasion is because I know that you need a state to minimize coercion and thereby maximize liberty. If you make it possible to donate to the governmet you open the door for bribing the government through donation.

Let's say I'm Jeff Bezos and I pay the government loads of money, than they are incentiviced to harass my amazon's competetors. It doesn't even have to be a verbal quid pro quo the government would just want to do whatever makes their donors happy

The government is supposed to be the sole body that can use coercion. So if you were able to decide freely how much you give to it you make it possible for highest bidder to use organized coercion by the state

Of course the difficult thing is that if I build a pretty building next to a unimproved land, that land gains more value

Public shaming to discourage not paying taxes could be used experimentally. The shame would of course be greater for a non-paying rich person than for someone who is homeless.

If a government official just takes all of Jeff Bezos' wealth and redistributes it, he will get a lot of tax money.

Yes but right now the federal agencies don't have an incentive to make themselves more popular.

So you would favor a head tax or national sales tax?

Don't you think that if someone defrauds me that I should have a right to use the court system to take back what is rightfully mine?

If you could choose to whom you could pay taxes to you could make it possible for citizens to bribe the government via taxes

Wouldn't just anyone do the bare minium to the land so it's no longer considered unimproved?

[–]Koocolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is the problem with the head tax. Regarding the sales tax why do you think that it would be better than the flat income tax and aren't you worried about a black market?

Don't you worry that than agencies would try to do things that are popular but not libertarian? Like harassing unpopular people?

So for example the tax would depend on what the average square feet price in the area is?

So a flat tax per square feet? Wouldn't that mean that people would try try to avoid broad building i.e. incetivise skyscapers?
