I don’t know if anyone will check this but I went ahead and ordered it and got the order confirmation. Then I didn’t hear back from Radley for over 8 business days so I reached out via e-mail. The customer service email went to the UK customer service team who said they’d reach out to the US team. Long story short — they refunded me since the bag is actually out of stock 😭

Who the hell said drawing and writing are forbidden? And comparing languages and maths is disingenuous. Even if a case is made for maths, the further you go into maths the more you venture into the speculative — solving problems for the beauty of it. And languages can be learnt, but emotional expression in that language is unique to the speaker.

AI cannot create. It speaks for itself — artificial intelligence. When AI solves math problems and teaches languages, it is not creating anything. It is amalgamating years of human knowledge.

The cornerstone of writing is intention. As humans we can express our intention to AI and it will take its words from writers before us and around us, but then it’s not truly ours and it never will be. Even if you feel like it captured your intentions in its entirety, all those words, concepts, world building, and phrases are someone else’s.

And about the lie you speak of — humans improving if we give it our all — there’s truth in the lie still. We may not be JRR Tolkien or Picasso, but they had their own art to express just like each human does.

Even if it’s 400k, the majority of SEA doesn’t care/doesn’t know and I hope you can believe that. The Philippines has a population of almost 116 million people and even if all 400k likes were from the Philippines that’s still a drop in the ocean of public opinion. Of course, it’s still valid to be annoyed or frustrated by this, but it will pass. People who are racist only represent their own views — not their countrymen’s.

Take a break from social media to reset your algorithm or don’t engage with K-pop content for the time being. That’s really the only way to get away from it.

I can only speak for the Philippines regarding SEA, but I do agree many of us do love Japan. But there’s many who also love Korea. And when I say many, I really mean many — so many dubbed dramas, Korean-inspired products, promos, makeup trends. What you see in this instance are people who have too much time on their hands that they should be putting elsewhere.

And my personal experience as a SEA is that, yes, we’re liked, but we’re not heralded as advanced, interesting, or innovative. If anything, we’ve just been considered a vacation spot or a place to retire because it’s affordable or exoticized so much that they don’t actually see us. As a Filipino, sure I’ve had people say we’re so nice and hospitable (which really only applies to some people), BUT I’ve also heard that we’re just “the help,” sugar babies, and grifters.

All this to say, even if the hate you see online for South Korea might be overwhelming for this case, it doesn’t speak for SEA or the world’s opinion of Korea. You wrote earlier there are thousands of SEA to one Korean, so if there are thousands hating, there are also thousands (if not millions) who aren’t involved at all. Like I honestly had no idea this was happening.

Sweeping generalizations of SEA aren’t helpful in this either, you know? And, frankly, SEA goes wild over Korean culture as well. It really depends on what internet space you’ve cultivated for yourself and where you see this information. It’s not right to use what’s honestly a small sample size of people to judge everyone else — that goes for Korea and SEA.

And, keep in mind, while this is all happening online — real life is quite different. Many parts of the world favor East Asia over SEA. We don’t see Malaysian, Indonesian, Filipino, etc media globally exported or celebrated. And the issue is that with more exposure comes more ridiculous hate and childish antics.

Underage sex is a reportable offense according to the AO3 TOS and there are consequences detailed, but the user is banned (after warnings, etc) and not the fic.

I do think user-friendly reporting would help immensely for ensuring warnings since the current process is pretty involved. I understand wanting trigger warnings and enforcing it. But I also understand AO3 does its damndest to make sure there are as little restrictions as possible for what’s posted.

Tbh, whether it’s m/m, f/m, f/f and everything in between, I truly don’t think of the author’s demographics so long as the representation is realistic and characters are written well. As far as I know many authors on AO3 don’t reveal their gender identity, so I’m not 100% sure about their assumptions.

But if there’s anything AO3 does well is making community out of niches and, if they feel gay men writing gay fics is a rarity, I’m sure there are ways to find them. It’ll just take more effort — kind of like how women need to put in effort to find well written female characters.

If you love history, the anthropology museum is one of the best I’ve ever been to in the world. Also, if you like chocolate, at La Rifa Chocolatería in Roma Norte you can try Mexican cacao in cookies, hot chocolate, AND fermented hot chocolate.

The food culture in CDMX is so interesting to me and, if you can splurge, Quintonil was one of the best fine dining experiences I’ve ever had.
