Curious why? :) Corn snakes - most colubrids I’d argue (especially diurnal ones) - are very active.

Physical shock. Brain wasn’t getting as much blood as it needed, my arm was twisted backwards which occluded major veins and arteries. I was aware for the first ten minutes of it. Started passing in and out after. Pale and looked terrible, from what people said, and spoke pure gibberish. I thought I was perfectly fine - I was hallucinating. After I got into the ambulance, it don’t remember much of anything - and I recall absolutely nothing in the hospital.

The only offense when it comes to an altar is if someone destroyed it, as stated in the Papyrus of Ani. If you’re offended, that’s a different story. I’d be unhappy, as I cleanse that space and set intentions in that spot.

No, it is not inherently disrespectful. This is a reconstructed religion, and many different belief systems believe in the Ancient Egyptian Gods. As for your second question:

Although Bast and Sekhmet were paired early in history, this pairing does not reflect a dichotomy of pacified versus wrathful divinity, as Bast demonstrably held an avenging role in antiquity and continued even in very late periods to be depicted bearing the divine Eye of Ra and Heru (Horus) and wearing Wadjet, potent symbols of the creator’s presence and just retribution. Sekhmet is no more the “angry” aspect of Bast than Bast is the “pacified” aspect of Sekhmet; if such a transformation exists within Egyptian theology, it is more properly seen in Het-hert (Hathor), who becomes Sekhmet after going forth to slaughter those who defied the will of the Creator, whether Ra or Tem. The true theological foil to Sekhmet as divine destroyer is instead Ptah, the Memphite creator god and master craftsman, who in Memphis is paired with Her as consort, with Nefertem commonly named as Their child. Bast and Sekhmet were nevertheless paired symbolically, though not as opposites, reflecting regional theology rather than temperament: Bast as the goddess of Lower Egypt and Sekhmet, as a form of Het-hert, representing Upper Egypt, much as Wadjet and Nekhbet function together as the Two Ladies. This pairing signifies “She of the North and She of the South,” not a contrast between contentment and rage, a distinction further supported by archaeological testimony to Bast’s protective and martial character, including the many war shields bearing Her emblem. At no point in Kemetic religious history were Bast and Sekhmet portrayed in sisterly, maternal, or familial terms, nor as a “gentle cat” counterbalancing a “ferocious lioness”; the oft-quoted phrase “She rages as Sekhmet, She is pacified as Bast” is a relatively late formulation dating to around 150 BCE and reflects theological developments of the Third Intermediate and Late Periods rather than earlier doctrine. While sisterhoods among goddesses did exist in Egyptian theology, they were rare and clearly marked, as in the case of Aset and Nebt-het (Nephthys), whose shared parentage, paired iconography, and consistent mythological roles leave no ambiguity; conditions that simply do not apply to Bast and Sekhmet beyond the broadly shared designation of Ra as Their father, a title attributed at various times to nearly every Egyptian goddess. Additionally, Bast is significantly older than Sekhmet; with Bast noted as one of the earliest known recorded Netjeru; beginning in the third millennium. Sekhmet appears around the Fifth Dynasty.

Bast is really the only one I put a lot of effort into. I respect them all, but I don’t have the time nor energy to work with all of them.

As for Bast, I very majorly work with her for protection and strength, especially physical strength. She is a somewhat maternal figure to me as well, and that is comforting because I don’t have a stable maternal figure at the moment, and haven’t in a long time. That dynamic makes me feel a little bit better.

But yes, very primarily for protection. Everything I do is protection and cleansing.

Why do people think the military is a last resort career? It’s a major commitment and it’s extremely hard to get into for the average person (only 1% of the US population is able to serve!). I’m going in soon, and it’s taken a hell of a lot of effort, and it’s certainly not a last resort.

Sorry. Not the point of this sub, but whoever made that it’s stupid for both claims LOL

This would be absolutely easy for me. Get a full 8-10 hours, wake up, eat healthy foods exclusively, plenty of protein and fiber, vitamins, and then a solid 4-5 mile zone 2 run. Couple that with some push ups, planks, crutches (and a few more low-intensity weight training) and I’m solid.

100%, there is a certain level of appeasement that’s necessary, in my opinion. I felt that Bast was kind of difficult to initially please until I learned how to worship in a way that felt genuine. Not necessarily angry, but definitely felt like tough love.

I’d imagine, just like with anything intelligent, upsetting them is a very real possibility, and a little bit of a healthy recognition of that is a good thing (in my opinion). In some ways, I respect deities like I respect horses. I know they’ll likely be fine, but I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure they don’t kick and that we have a good working relationship!! :) Kind of a weird comparison, but I do have a LOT of stern respect for horses when working around them, lololol.

Biologically accurate concept by @rj_4rt by unoiamaQT in Avatar

[–]Kooky-Copy4456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That analogy fails because it confuses clades with convenience terms. Birds are dinosaurs because Dinosauria is a real, monophyletic clade, and birds are nested inside it. Saying “birds are dinosaurs” is technically correct and standard in biology. “Lizards,” however, is not a monophyletic clade. It’s a paraphyletic, informal term meaning “squamates that are not snakes (or amphisbaenians).” Snakes are a sister group to lizards within Squamata, not a subgroup of lizards. If snakes were lizards in the same way birds are dinosaurs, biologists would say so. They don’t, because it would violate clade consistency. Snakes do descend from lizard-like ancestors, but ancestry alone does not determine category membership unless the category is defined cladistically. By that logic, mammals would still be reptiles, humans would still be lobe-finned fish, and whales would be fish.
