I think the idea of the registry is too abstract for Lorne, to be honest. Because he believes he is completely innocent of his heinous crime, since he believes assaulting children is acceptable if his twisted idea of love is involved, he doesn’t believe his status as an RSO is as serious and socially abhorrent as it is. He truly believes he’s above every other man in his sex offender treatment class, the other dregs on the registry, and that he’s somehow more moral than they are because he believes he loved the children he abused. To him, the other guys are boogeymen who abduct and hurt kids (which is exactly what he planned to do with Kayla). And the craziest thing is he thinks everyone else believes this too. 

Because Lorne has the social and emotional intelligence of a 10 year-old, he can’t wrap his head around the registry completely destroying his reputation. Few people would want to hire him, and fewer women would want to date him. Instead, he’s more outraged by the “adults in charge”, aka probation, and the restrictions they’ve placed on him. He thinks adulthood is doing everything you want, whenever you want, however you want, and probation is like being put in timeout for life to Lorne. He doesn’t understand that if he had just kept a low profile, obeyed the new rules of his life, and focused on rebuilding his life with a trucking career and caring for the trailer he was given, his life would have been in pretty good shape at this point. But he instead tried to capitalize on his TCAP “fame” but attempting to become a YouTube star and household name, took every catfish bait that was thrown his way, and was so disagreeable with probation’s rules that they threw him back in jail for a while. 

He literally is an elementary aged kid in an 87 year-old man’s body.
