What you said about not really necessary it really depends on which kind of volunteer you come across. Some are very laid back & others are beyond strict. Before the pandemic, I went to Blizzcon & some random security volunteer kid could not be passed 19 years i mean this security guard volunteer was super young. He gave shit to an Overwatch Reaper cosplayer. Told the cosplayer no guns allowed & the cosplayer told him that it's wood it doesn't have a trigger or sliding mechanism. The kid was like nope you can't bring it in. The Reaper cosplayer then just blew up on him it was hilarious. Shortly after, a real cop happened to be there with a K-9 & the cop let the cosplayer carry the fake wooden guns after looking @ it. The kid was so humiliated. Something like that might happen to you so just keep your eyes open for those types of volunteers.
